Honda Civic Type R 2025 adds new color, increases price

Recently, Honda announced a price adjustment for the 2025 Civic Type R model, and added a new paint color, Racing Blue, to replace the previous Rally Red color.

Accordingly, the upgraded Honda Civic Type R 2025 is no different from its predecessor except for the new paint color option. Besides Racing Blue, customers can still choose traditional colors including Championship White, Crystal Black and Sonic Grey.

Powering the 2025 Honda Civic Type R sports car is still a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine with 315 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

In the Australian market, the price of the 2025 Honda Civic Type R has increased by at least 4,900 AUD (equivalent to 84 million VND) compared to the most recent price, and compared to when it was launched in 2023, the total increase has reached about 110 million VND.

In Vietnam, in January 2025, Honda Vietnam also adjusted the selling price of Civic Type R from 2.399 billion VND to 2.999 billion VND, an increase of 600 million VND even though there were no changes in equipment.

At this price, the Civic Type R even surpasses the Mercedes-AMG C 43, a high-performance sedan from Germany with more power, equipped with 4-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering technology.

Despite its high price tag, the Civic Type R is still highly sought after thanks to its extremely limited availability. In Vietnam, most of the cars were sold before they could even arrive in the country. A similar situation occurred in Australia when the Civic Type R “FL5” sold out within 24 hours of opening for pre-orders in 2023.

This time, Honda continues to apply the "first come, first served" sales model, giving priority to customers who register early on the official website.

However, the future of the Civic Type R globally is facing a major challenge. In Europe, strict emissions regulations forced Honda to introduce the Ultimate Edition version with a quantity of only 40 units, considered a farewell to this market.

The discontinuation of the Honda Civic Type R marks the end of the model's life in the European market. This scarcity is causing prices for used Civic Type R to skyrocket, even causing car enthusiasts to stock up on resale.

It is the scarcity that makes the Civic Type R increasingly sought after, pushing up the selling price on the used car market. With its position as a unique high-performance hot hatch, the 2025 Civic Type R is expected to continue to create a "race" to hunt for cars in many countries, including Vietnam.
