Ferrari has just issued a recall for two 296 GTS and four 296 GTB models from 2025 after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned of the risk of oil leakage from the oil supply line to the turbocharger due to improperly tightened nuts, which could lead to engine fire.
Ferrari said that improper tightening at a semi-automatic machining station caused the oil filter nut to not be tightened enough. The company discovered the error in early October on two undelivered 296 Speciales, and later tested and determined that the problem only affected some 2025 296s, not other models.

Although no accidents, injuries, or warranty claims have been reported, Ferrari is asking owners to stop driving their cars until their dealers inspect and properly tighten the lug nuts. Official notices will be sent to owners in mid-December. The company expects to address the issue quickly, given the small scale of the recall.
The Ferrari 296 GTB/GTS supercar is the successor to the F8 Tributo/GTS, using a 663-horsepower 3.0L twin-turbo V6 combined with a 167-horsepower electric motor for a total capacity of 830 horsepower. In Vietnam, the 296 GTB and 296 GTS have starting prices of 21 and 23 billion VND, respectively.
