The end of Windows 10 support has created a strange craze in Japan: DVD and Blu-ray drives are suddenly selling like hotcakes. In Akihabara, many stores reported that Blu-ray drives were sold out, and DVD drives were about to be in a similar situation.
The main reason is that many people want to reinstall or upgrade to Windows 11 via optical disc instead of downloading online. Some users say they trust physical drives more because of their stability and ease of control during installation.
However, modern computer cases today rarely have slots for optical drives, making installation more difficult. Interestingly, many big brands like Sony or LG have withdrawn from this market, creating opportunities for smaller Japanese manufacturers. Retailers in Tokyo predict that DVDs will soon be sold out due to strong demand from loyal Windows 10 users.
Once again, the Japanese show their special love for physical storage media, as DVDs suddenly become a “rare commodity” in the era of cloud computing. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Top 10 'Scary' Technology Devices of the Future.
