“The green shirts are everywhere on every street, the green shirts go to every village. Despite many difficulties and hardships, Quang Ninh youth are always ready. The green shirts build new projects, the green shirts help you go to school. On every road of our beloved Fatherland, we, the Vietnamese youth, are always there” ... The vibrant lyrics in the song “ Green Shirt Dream” by musician Phung Huu Duc Hung are also the spirit and enthusiasm of the youth of the whole province in the 2023 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.
Kicking off the series of activities of this year's Summer Youth Campaign (taking place from May to September 2023), the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Ninh province organized the launching program of the 2023 Summer Youth Campaign at Mao Khe Mine Park (Dong Trieu Town) on May 26.
Right at the launching program, the Youth Union Clusters under the Provincial Youth Union awarded 250 million VND to build a provincial-level youth project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province in Co To district; Viet Hung Production and Trade Company Limited awarded 20 bicycles worth 50 million VND to disadvantaged students in Dong Trieu town; installed a signboard for the Youth project applying digital transformation, launched a Community Digital Technology Team, deployed the model "Market 4.0 - Cashless payment" at Mao Khe market; installed a signboard for the playground and gave gifts to children in Hong Phong ward (Dong Trieu town)...
The spirit of determination on the launching day has fueled the summer volunteer activities taking place enthusiastically throughout the province. In the midst of the scorching summer days, wherever we go, the image of the green youth uniform and the boiling youthful energy is clearly present through each meaningful project and task.
These days, it is not difficult to see the images of Ha Long's Youth Union members diligently and enthusiastically carrying out the "Blooming Electric Box" project, peeling off and erasing advertisements, and painting decorative pictures on electrical cabinets along Highway 18 from Ha Long City Police Station to Cau Trang area and in 33 communes and wards of the city. This is one of a series of practical activities in the Youth Union Summer Campaign of the capital city with the desire to contribute to the goal of building Ha Long City bright, green, clean, beautiful, a civilized, friendly, exemplary service and tourism urban area and towards celebrating the 60th anniversary of the province's founding.
The model has mobilized a large number of Youth Union members from wards, art teachers from primary and secondary schools in the city and students to volunteer to participate. Through meticulous and creative drawings, old electrical cabinets that were dirty with offensive advertisements and classified ads have now been given a new look, becoming beautiful paintings, introducing and promoting the natural beauty and famous works of Ha Long, Quang Ninh. After a month of implementation, the entire delegation has drawn over 100 electrical cabinets and continues to mobilize social resources and contributions from Youth Union members to complete all booths and electrical cabinets along the main roads.
Nguyen Ha Mi, a member of Hong Ha ward (Ha Long city), shared: I have a lot of free time during the summer, so when I heard about the electrical cabinet painting program launched by the City Youth Union, I registered to participate. This summer activity is really meaningful because we can not only freely create with our passion for painting but also contribute a small effort to make the city space more beautiful. This activity also promotes awareness among all people to keep the environment clean, the city landscape is always clean and beautiful.
Not only Ha Long City Youth Union, the activities of this year's Summer Youth Campaign have become even more meaningful when the youth of the whole province are competing and determined to carry out meaningful youth projects to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province on October 30 (1963 -2023)... In the past month, the entire Union has organized the installation of a signboard for 1 provincial-level youth project "Children's playground, outdoor gym, artificial football field" implemented by Cam Pha City Youth Union worth 735 million VND; 6 district-level youth projects and 184 grassroots projects and works with a total value of nearly 2.3 billion VND.
Closely following the 4 key groups of tasks of the Summer Youth Union Campaign including: Digital transformation of activities of the Union and Association, participating in comprehensive digital transformation; implementing projects, tasks, and activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Quang Ninh province on October 30 (1963-2023); participating in building advanced and exemplary new rural areas, developing services, tourism, building civilized urban areas, protecting the environment; organizing programs and activities to accompany and care for union members and children; organizing a number of volunteer programs and activities on Tran Island - Thanh Nien Island, Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have developed plans and implemented activities suitable to the characteristics of units and localities. Along with that, 5 component campaigns including: Exam Support Program, Green Summer Campaign, Red Flamboyant Campaign, Pink Vacation Campaign, Green March Campaign were established by the Youth Union at all levels with volunteer teams attracting thousands of young union members to participate, integrated with the general movements and tasks of the Summer Youth Union Campaign to ensure practicality and effectiveness.
Right in the first phase of the campaign (from May 26 to June 29), the entire delegation built 2km of new rural roads; lit up 1.8km of rural roads with solar lights; planted 9,050 new trees including large trees, green trees and flowers of all kinds on the roads; painted 550m of murals, 500 electric booths ... with a total value of socialized resources mobilized up to 360 million VND.
Environmental protection activities and climate change response continue to be promoted through the organization of the Clean the Sea campaign, periodic Green Sundays and activities in response to World Environment Day on June 5 such as: Releasing 20,000 shrimp fry, 2,000 yellowfin pompano to regenerate aquatic resources in Hai Ha; collecting floating foam buoys on the sea, supporting people to replace foam buoys with plastic buoys...
The whole Union organized 4 voluntary blood donation programs, collecting over 1,500 units of blood; 4 health check-up programs, providing free medicine for over 2,100 children and people; supported the construction of 4 charity houses, red scarf houses; presented 1,516 gifts to children in difficult circumstances; organized over 300 talent classes, hobby clubs, life skills classes, 138 free swimming classes with over 4,000 children participating; repaired and built 15 playgrounds for children... with a total socialized budget of over 2.5 billion VND.
Prominently, demonstrating the pioneering role of the youth in implementing comprehensive digital transformation, the Youth Union at all levels has actively deployed 6 models of "Market 4.0 - Cashless payment" in the province. From here, it has supported the creation of free QR-Code payment codes (using the Youth Union's own identification set) for over 800 business households at traditional markets. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee directed the Youth Union at all levels to strengthen coordination, guide people to install and activate VNeID electronic identification, contributing to the implementation of the tasks of Project 06 of the Government. From June 1 to June 30, over 5,000 Youth Union members have been deployed, going to every alley, knocking on every door to propagate, mobilize people and support, guide over 20,000 applications for level 1 and 2 electronic identification registration.
Along with that, the grassroots Youth Unions continue to maintain the model of each grassroots Youth Union assigning 1-2 members to be on duty at the one-stop-shop department at the district and commune levels, supporting over 9,050 people to create accounts on the national public service portal and submit documents and carry out administrative procedures online.
Comrade Nguyen The Minh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, affirmed: The organization and activities of the 2023 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign have closely followed the planned orientation, and at the same time, based on the needs and practical situations in units and localities. The method of implementing the component campaigns and peak days has been innovated in the direction of bringing resources and activities to the grassroots level. The results of many youth volunteer teams in localities and units have been clearly demonstrated through specific youth projects. Thereby, it has increasingly attracted a large number of young people to respond and participate, improving the role, responsibility, and working skills of the Youth Unions of units and localities. At the same time, it has created opportunities for young people to practice, experience, and mature in awareness and action, have courage, intelligence, health, and social practice skills, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. The effectiveness of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign increasingly affirms the vitality of the youth volunteer movement in social life, contributing to spreading good values to the community.
The journey of summer volunteer days has been, is and will continue to be filled with many meaningful projects and tasks that the youth of the whole province join hands to carry out. And certainly, it will always be a journey, a beautiful mark for each Youth Union member to see that the years of youth have not been lived in vain; to constantly multiply the beautiful and meaningful colors of youth in life.
