Mr. Varun Grover, Country Manager of Booking.com in Vietnam shared: “Healing retreats are one of the travel trends of the year - when complete mental relaxation is put on top; travelers are increasingly interested in restoring their mind - body - spirit through trips”. Experts predict that this type of experiential and healing tourism will not only dominate in 2025 but will continue to spread in the following years.

AppotaPay's 2024 tourism market report said that after the pandemic, domestic tourism has become the priority choice of many tourists instead of international destinations. Destinations with elements of forests, mountains, rivers, sea breezes, beautiful landscapes, unique cultures... are increasingly popular and chosen.

Unlike traditional tours, when exploring every route, participating in fun activities and enjoying diverse cuisine , healing tourism brings a more "peaceful" experience.

The stops in experiential and healing tours are often far from bustling cities and connected to nature and forests. Activities in healing tourism are mostly gentle, such as yoga, meditation, cycling, massage... aimed at relaxing the mind and restoring balance in life.

Occasionally there are also physical activities such as mountain climbing and swimming to improve physical health, depending on the choice and preferences of each tourist.

Experiential and healing travel is also considered a tonic for both physical and mental health. After difficult times, experiencing cultures and people in faraway places will help many people, especially young people, “renew” themselves, to see how valuable experiences travel brings.

As a young person with a passion for traveling, Mr. Tran Hoang Long (engineer in Ho Chi Minh City) - who just had a trekking trip to conquer the Nhiu Co San primeval forest (Lao Cai), said that waking up in the mist of the mountains and forests was the first experience he tried.

Just stepping out of the camp, the feeling of bursting before the starry sky, sparkling and so close that you can just reach out and touch it. Immersing yourself in nature, it feels like the worries of life are washed away.

“The journey to conquer Nhiu Co San peak is not only a physical challenge but also an exploration of wonderful natural scenery, where every step brings unforgettable experiences,” said Mr. Long.

Vietnam has many beautiful destinations to develop experiential and healing tourism. In recent years, this type of tourism has begun to receive attention and development.

Many resorts, spas, and community tourism villages have been invested in and built. Eco-tourism areas in Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc, trekking tours through the forests in the Northwest mountains, or high-end coastal resorts in Da Nang, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, etc. are gradually attracting a large number of tourists, especially in the summer. If developed properly, this will be a sustainable business method for the tourism industry.
