On May 19, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi) reported that last week (from May 9 to 16), Hanoi recorded 12 cases of dengue fever and 0 deaths, an increase of 8 cases compared to the previous week.

Accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to now, Hanoi has recorded 251 cases of dengue fever, 0 deaths; down compared to the same period in 2024. During the week, no outbreak was recorded, cumulatively in 2025, 1 outbreak has ended.

Hanoi CDC has coordinated with units to monitor the old dengue outbreak in 2024 at: Son Ha and Hoang Long (Phu Xuyen), Giang Vo (Ba Dinh), Lang Thuong and Cat Linh (Dong Da), Tien Duoc (Soc Son), Tu Nhien (Thuong Tin), Duong Noi (Ha Dong), Phung Xa (Thach That)... and investigate and monitor the distribution and composition of dengue-transmitting mosquito species.

Regarding the prevention and control of other epidemics, last week, the city recorded 181 measles cases in 30 districts; the number of cases decreased by 8 cases compared to the previous week (189 cases). In 2025, the city recorded 2,635 measles cases in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; 1 death, an increase compared to the same period in 2024 (1/0).

During the week, 254 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease were recorded in 28 districts, towns and cities; a decrease of 59 cases compared to week 18.

Hanoi CDC recorded 1 case of adult tetanus in Chuong My (male, 57 years old, history of stepping on a nail on the right foot).

The city recorded 23 COVID-19 cases. In 2025, Hanoi recorded 37 COVID-19 cases and 0 deaths, down from the same period in 2024 (637 cases/0 deaths).


To prevent dengue fever, Hanoi CDC has developed a plan and organized proactive activities to prevent dengue fever before the epidemic season, and a communication campaign in response to ASEAN Dengue Prevention Day (June 15). In addition, 100% of districts, towns and cities have responded to the launch; organized campaigns to kill mosquito larvae, and actively sprayed chemicals to prevent dengue fever in key communes and wards with many patients every year.

In the coming time, districts, towns and cities will continue to review and organize measles vaccination for children of regular vaccination age and children subject to campaign vaccination, ensuring progress according to the set requirements. Relevant units will strengthen coordination between the health andeducation sectors in monitoring, preventing and handling cases and outbreaks of measles, hand, foot and mouth disease... in schools; coordinate the implementation of vaccination in schools as well as review and propaganda for parents to have their children fully vaccinated with all types of vaccines according to regulations./.
