According to Mr. Nguyen Luong Minh, the flat-leaf pine has the scientific name Pinus krempfii, this is an endemic and rare plant species. In Vietnam, the flat-leaf pine is found in several places such as: National Parks such as Chu Yang Sin (Dak Lak), Phuoc Binh National Park (Ninh Thuan), Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park.
In Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park alone, authorities recorded that the flat-leaf pine is distributed into two large populations in the forest areas of Lat commune and Da Chais commune (Lac Duong district).
Currently, the authorities have numbered the flat-leaf pine stumps, made records and put them on the watch list. Mr. Nguyen Luong Minh said that the flat-leaf pine is rare but this is a species that is difficult to transplant (plant elsewhere), so the authorities must carry out strict management and protection work.
