After joining Real Madrid as a promising player in the summer of 2021, midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has now become the factor that coach Carlo Ancelotti relies on the most this season.

The player with the most appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season is not Vinicius Junior or Rodrygo, but Camavinga. The French midfielder has played 52 games, one more than Rodrygo. Camavinga can improve this record because Real Madrid still have 4 matches in La Liga and a maximum of 3 matches in the Champions League.

Since the 2022 World Cup, when Camavinga and France reached the final, the 20-year-old star has become one of the most important and impressive members of the "White Vultures". Regardless of playing in the position of defensive midfielder (against Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16) or left-back (against Barcelona at the Nou Camp), Camavinga has completed the task well. The last time he started in midfield was in the El Clasico against Barcelona in March and has even guarded the left flank in the last 7 matches of Real Madrid. The switch to left-back, far from Camavinga's usual deep-lying midfield role, is quite interesting. Camavinga has been in love with the new position since the World Cup. After Lucas Hernandez ruptured his knee ligaments in France's opening match, coach Didier Deschamps decided to target Camavinga. Although Camavinga has never played left-back and does not like to play left-back, the French coach sees all the qualities in his student that can help him shine in this position, from speed, physical strength to a skillful left foot.

Camavinga has improved to the point where he has become the club's best option at left-back. He started in the recent Copa del Rey final and in the two Champions League quarter-finals where Real Madrid crushed Chelsea.

Camavinga, a former prodigy at French club Rennes, made his Ligue 1 debut at the age of 16 before joining Real Madrid for a transfer fee of €30 million in the summer of 2021. Now, Camavinga understands that playing at left-back will help him become a more complete midfielder in the future. By playing in a defensive role, he will develop strength and balance, essential elements when playing in midfield. Rotating between these two positions is so frequent that Camavinga is now one of the first names to appear in coach Ancelotti's starting lineup, alongside strikers Karim Benzema, Vinicius, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

To become so important, Camavinga has changed a bit since last season. He has increased his physical training, inspired by his close friend Benzema. Camavinga's efforts and versatility have paid off, both for himself and for the club. After winning the Copa del Rey with Real Madrid last weekend, Camavinga has won every possible trophy for his club before the age of 21, including the Champions League, La Liga, European Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Spanish Super Cup.

Thanks to that, Camavinga is the youngest player in Real Madrid history to complete the collection of 6 titles. It also took him only 2 years to create the miracle, while Cristiano Ronaldo needed 5 years after joining the club to have the above prestigious collection.
