Preserving the national soul in the flow of globalization
According to researchers, journalism is a cultural product created by humans, meeting the needs of information, propaganda, education... Journalistic works themselves contain cultural knowledge, messages that have the power to spread and strongly impact the public. In particular, the Vietnamese revolutionary press under the leadership of the Party has always been steadfast in political will, proficient in the profession and has a pure and humane professional ethics, striving to serve the Fatherland and the people. Noble qualities, crystallized into cultural values, are always preserved and passed on, becoming the pride of revolutionary journalists.

Journalist Ho Quang Loi, former Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that the press is a part of culture. The articles written every day and the press products created by journalists are the messengers that bring culture to society. The press plays a very important role in conveying culture and spreading culture to society.
Since its inception, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has not only carried out the task of disseminating information or propagating the revolution, but has also voluntarily taken on a great role, which is to build and develop an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity. On every page of the newspaper, in every word, image, and sound, the press has sown the seeds of cultural values, contributing to nurturing the soul, personality, and character of the nation through historical periods. The press is a pioneer in discovering, honoring, and preserving traditional cultural values. From the beauty of folk festivals, customs, and folk arts to the tangible and intangible heritages of the nation, the press has persistently introduced them to a wide range of readers and audiences at home and abroad.

Over the years, press agencies have actively contributed to promoting the image of Vietnam to the world through the transmission of unique traditional cultural values such as tuong, cheo, cai luong, quan ho... or encouraging and honoring modern art products. Thereby arousing national pride among the people, especially the youth. The press also directly participates in creating cultural products in the form of reports, television programs, and large-scale cultural events. Key press agencies have organized cultural events and produced high-quality art programs, focusing on young people. There are reality TV shows, game shows, or cultural talk shows that have become healthy playgrounds, helping to discover and nurture young talents, creating a strong connection between the public and national cultural values.
In-depth topics of Nhan Dan, Tien Phong, Tuoi Tre, Thanh Nien, Lao Dong Newspapers... on traditional craft villages, customs, festivals, heritage conservation such as ca tru, quan ho, Hue royal court music... This not only contributes to preserving the thousand-year-old cultural treasure of the nation, but also ignites pride and a sense of responsibility for the origin in every Vietnamese person. In newspapers, online news sites, radio and television programs, stories about Bat Trang pottery, Ha Dong silk, Thanh Tien do paper, or festivals such as Tay Thien, Lim Festival, Hung Temple... have vividly entered every thought and every daily action of modern society. Not only stopping at preserving, the press also contributes to enriching and developing national culture by encouraging new creations on the basis of Vietnamese identity.
In the context of globalization and the explosion of modern media, when foreign cultural flows are pouring in strongly, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has maintained its role as a "gatekeeper", resolutely refuting hybrid and anti-cultural manifestations, while at the same time encouraging the selective absorption of the quintessence of humanity, enriching the face of contemporary Vietnamese culture. Press agencies across the country have spread beautiful lifestyles in the community, encouraging examples of good people and good deeds, fostering patriotism, national pride and aspirations to rise up. Touching articles about female teachers in mountainous villages, doctors who sacrifice themselves in the midst of the epidemic, creative entrepreneurs starting up for the country... "covering" the press, have been igniting strong belief in the strength of each Vietnamese person in the journey of national construction.
Thereby, the press not only reflects but also directly participates in the process of educating the public, especially the younger generation, on life ideals, aesthetics, ethics and social responsibility. In addition to the task of propagating positive values, the press also constantly and vigorously fights against cultural deviations, offensive, violent and negative phenomena in society. Investigations on the reality of school violence, public behavior culture, deviations in popular art, and social criticism columns in major press agencies as well as local newspapers and radio stations have contributed to orienting awareness, adjusting social behavior according to ethical standards, civilized and humane lifestyles, contributing to creating positive changes in the community.
In the vibrant flow of the digital age, Vietnamese press has also proactively innovated communication methods, taking advantage of digital platforms to spread cultural values more strongly and widely. Electronic newspapers and social networks of press agencies have become effective channels connecting traditional culture and modern youth.

In the era of integration, when foreign cultural waves penetrate every corner, the press plays an increasingly pivotal role in preserving the national soul. Special pages and columns on cultural heritage, regional identity, folk festivals, traditional cuisine, etc. are the way for the press to “keep the fire” of culture alive in the hearts of the younger generation.
Spreading beauty is the courage and responsibility of the press.
On the basis of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, the press is identified as an important tool of the revolution. VI Lenin affirmed that the press is “propaganda, agitation and collective organization”; President Ho Chi Minh emphasized humanity, honesty and service to the people in press activities.
The current development trend of journalism is not only towards technology but also towards the depth of human values. Humanistic journalism is journalism for people, respecting the truth, being objective, contributing to building a humane and progressive society. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once noted that the press must provide healthy, practical, and combative information, resolutely eliminating news and articles that negatively affect social life, "do not distract society or disintegrate trust". The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress also emphasized the building of a "professional, humane, and modern" press and media.
Regarding the humanism of Vietnamese journalism, it is a journalism that serves the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, all for the people, for humanity. “Humanism” is understood directly and simply as journalism telling meaningful stories, inspiring, igniting good values, or more subtly, bringing to each sad and happy story in life a humane, sympathetic, and benevolent perspective, helping to resolve deadlocks to continue living better. Humanity, accuracy, and objectivity are the core values and the reason for the existence of journalism. A humane journalism will have the power to protect good values, the supreme and practical interests of the country and the people.
The increasingly perfected press law has clearly oriented and created conditions for the press to strongly promote its educational role, raise social awareness, and spread positive values, such as patriotism, national traditions, humanity, solidarity, sharing, protecting justice, and condemning anti-social behaviors or violations of good customs. The press is a friendly, close, and accessible information channel for the people, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights of individuals and groups, and encouraging charitable and humanitarian actions in society.

In the cause of national renewal, the press has always been a pioneering force, encouraging and promoting advanced models, reflecting vivid reality, discovering and proposing many issues of social significance so that the Party and the State can promptly adjust and supplement guidelines, policies and strategies. The press has promptly criticized the wrong viewpoints and sabotage activities of hostile forces, contributing significantly to strengthening people's trust in the Party's leadership and the country's path to socialism. In particular, as shock troops on the ideological front, the Vietnamese press has been actively, responsibly and effectively participating in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity. Many journalists and press agencies have demonstrated their bravery and determination to fight for justice and reason, contributing to effectively handling corruption and negativity cases.
Currently, in addition to other journalism genres such as news, commentary, reportage, investigation, etc., many press agencies have also created a kind story column to introduce kind people and honor beautiful life values. Not related to hot news, not talking about famous people, these are stories depicting ordinary people "no one knows their faces or names", but have faith in justice, pure love of life, attracting a large number of readers, interactions, comments, and shares. Typical examples are the columns "Kind deeds", "A pair of loving leaves", "A heart for you" of VTV24 News Center; the column "A good news every day, a beautiful story every week" of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Newspaper...
Our country and the world are entering a period of strong and vibrant development in terms of speed, dimension, quantity, quality, especially the overwhelming increase of science, technology, artificial intelligence, and big data. In the country, there is a process of industrialization, modernization, urbanization, and international integration; the strengths and weaknesses of the market mechanism, globalization, industry 4.0, big data, and artificial intelligence. The press also faces many challenges: fake information, clickbait trends, competition from social networks and artificial intelligence. In the context of the fourth industrial revolution and increasingly deep globalization, the press and media play a key role in orienting public opinion, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and promoting positive values. At this time, the press needs to be steadfast in its humanistic mission - aiming for truth, beauty, and goodness.
The crew of Quang Ninh Media Center made the MV for the song "Ha Long sea of memories" with singer Ho Quynh Huong at the Heritage Road on the shore of Ha Long Bay.
Spreading cultural and humanistic values is not a slogan, but a professional, persistent, socially responsible action. Vietnamese journalism today and tomorrow, if it wants to survive, must always be a companion of beauty, truth and kindness. That is not only a mission, but also an honor.
A good article is not only accurate and fast, but also touches the reader's heart. Human values cannot be created by algorithms. They can only be written by writers who live their lives for their profession, imbued with humanity.
