Suy Hang is one of the seven villages in Minh Lang commune, Vu Thu district. Thanks to the spirit of unity and cooperation of the officials and people, Suy Hang is one of the few residential areas in the district that has maintained the title of "Cultural Village" for 15 consecutive years, and has been awarded a certificate of commendation by the Provincial People's Committee.

The people of Suy Hang village are persistent and dedicated to their traditional embroidery craft. In the photo: The traditional embroidery workshop of Ms. Nguyen Thi Be's family.

Suy Hang village currently has 420 households and over 1,200 inhabitants. Besides agricultural production, the villagers maintain the traditional embroidery craft. Mr. Dang Cong Nguyen, Party Secretary and Head of the Village Front Committee, said: "In the economic development emulation movement, the village encouraged households to boldly invest in seeds and capital, apply scientific and technical advancements to rice production towards a commercial direction, and build farms, smallholdings, and concentrated, efficient aquaculture areas. The villagers have united and supported each other with over 2 billion VND invested in machinery, supplies, fertilizers, and breeding stock to develop production. To date, the village has several households that have consolidated land for large-scale production and livestock farming, notably the Kien family, who have consolidated and cultivated 10 hectares of rice; and the families of Mr. Luyen, Mr. Tung, Mr. So, and Mr. Tung, who raise breeding cows, chickens, and pigs, earning hundreds of millions of VND each year." Some households have proactively expanded into service businesses such as food processing, trading in construction materials, mechanics, and carpentry. Notably, despite facing many difficulties, hundreds of laborers in the village have persevered in maintaining the traditional embroidery craft, contributing to increased income and improved living standards. As a result, over 80% of households in Suy Hang village are now well-off or wealthy; only 1.25% are poor; 95% of households have solid, flat-roofed houses, and many have spacious multi-story houses, purchased cars, and expensive household appliances.

Economic development has created favorable conditions for people to participate in movements and activities. In building new rural areas, the people have united to contribute labor and resources to pave 100% of village and hamlet roads and build spacious village cultural houses.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai shared: "A few years ago, even before the province implemented the policy, the villagers in our hamlet pooled their resources and encouraged their children and grandchildren to contribute additional funds to install a street lighting system along the 1.7km main road through the hamlet and 100% of the main roads in the hamlet. We also voluntarily contributed 78 million VND to invest in heat-resistant corrugated iron roofing for the hamlet's cultural center, which serves as a meeting place. In particular, the entire hamlet mobilized over 800 million VND to renovate and upgrade Long Hoa Pagoda and build a memorial monument for the village's martyrs at the communal house, contributing to preserving the beautiful historical and cultural values and educating about the patriotic and revolutionary traditions of our homeland. Currently, we work together to plant and care for flowerbeds along the roads, clean the village lanes and alleys, and collect pesticide packaging from the fields to keep the environment clean. Our children who live far from home are very happy to return because the hamlet is clean, beautiful, modern, and civilized."

For many years, weddings and funerals in Suy Hang village have been organized in a civilized and economical manner, with 90% of funerals in the village being cremated. The village has maintained a record of no one having a third child or more for many years. Sports and folk dance activities attract a large number of participants. Every year, 100% of households register, with over 98% being recognized as culturally exemplary families. For 15 consecutive years (2008-2022), Suy Hang village has maintained its title as a culturally exemplary village, and in 2017 it received a commendation from the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements as a culturally exemplary village.

“For many years, Suy Hang village has always been a shining example in the commune in implementing the movement for national unity in building a cultured life in residential areas. The village's vibrant activities and movements have contributed to encouraging and motivating the people in the commune to compete in accelerating economic development, increasing income, improving living standards, and helping the commune achieve advanced new rural standards soon,” affirmed Mr. Do Xuan Phuong, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Minh Lang commune.

The appearance of Suy Hang village is becoming increasingly neat, green, clean, and beautiful.

Sharing his experience in mobilizing people to participate in patriotic emulation movements, Mr. Dang Cong Nguyen, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the Front Committee of Suy Hang village, said: First of all, the cadres are always dedicated and responsible to each emulation movement. The village effectively implements democratic regulations to promote the people's right to self-governance, creating consensus and harnessing the strength of the entire population in all activities. Regarding financial matters, the village implements democracy, openness, and transparency, thereby building trust among the people. Once the people trust the village, all activities are implemented smoothly and effectively.
