According to Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien, Head of the Propaganda Department, Engineering Corps, on the morning of June 13, Brigade 249 organized a test ferry without a load to prepare for the official operation of the ferry to serve people across the river this afternoon.
Currently, the water level of the Red River at the Phong Chau pontoon bridge area has a current flow rate of 3.2 m/s, so relevant authorities have calculated and planned to set up a military ferry to serve people's travel. It is expected that at 2:00 p.m. on June 13, the unit will ensure the ferry to serve people crossing the river.
This is the second time Brigade 249 has deployed a military ferry to serve people across the Red River at Phong Chau Bridge area when the water level of the Red River is high, not ensuring the operation of the pontoon bridge.
Previously, due to the high water level of the Red River at Phong Chau bridge area, at around 9:00 a.m. on June 11, Brigade 249 (under the Engineering Corps) cut the pontoon bridge to ensure safety.
