According to data from the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), in August 2025, the EU's wooden furniture imports from non-bloc markets reached 476.2 million EUR (equivalent to 552.4 million USD), down 8.7% compared to August 2024. In the first 8 months of 2025, the EU's wooden furniture imports from non-bloc markets reached 4.3 billion EUR (equivalent to 4.98 billion USD), up 8.4% compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 8 months of 2025, the EU increased its wooden furniture imports from non-bloc markets, showing that the demand for wooden furniture consumption remains positive, despite the volatile global economic situation.

Notably, Vietnamese furniture continues to increase its market share in the EU, thanks to its ability to meet quality, design and sustainability standards in the chain application. This creates opportunities to expand Vietnam's wood industry exports to the EU market in the coming time, especially in the context of the EVFTA Agreement continuing to bring competitive benefits in terms of tariffs and market access.

Specifically, in the structure of the non-bloc supply market, China continues to be the largest supplier of wooden furniture to the EU in the first 8 months of 2025, reaching 2.15 billion EUR (equivalent to 2.49 billion USD), up 14.4% over the same period in 2024, accounting for 50.1% of the total import value, up from 47.4% in the same period in 2024. Vietnam is the second largest non-bloc supply market to the EU, reaching 379.98 million EUR (equivalent to 440.8 million USD), up 16.7%, accounting for 8.8%, up 0.6 percentage points over the same period in 2024. Vietnam continues to affirm its position as one of the most important suppliers of wooden furniture to the EU, with the highest growth rate among the top 10 non-bloc partners of the EU.

In terms of goods, the EU increased imports of most wooden furniture items from non-bloc markets in the first 8 months of 2025, except for office furniture. Of which, the EU imported the most living room and dining room furniture, reaching 1.9 billion EUR (equivalent to 2.2 billion USD), up 9.1% over the same period in 2024; followed by wooden frame chairs reaching 1.46 billion EUR (equivalent to 1.7 billion USD), up 21%; Bedroom furniture reaching 721 million EUR (equivalent to 836.4 million USD), up 15.6%... Along with that, the EU's demand for importing wooden furniture items in the first 8 months of 2025 continued to maintain extremely high growth. In particular, Vietnamese furniture is gradually increasing its market share in this market, especially in product groups with competitive advantages such as wooden frame chairs and living room and dining room furniture.

The results show that the export activities of the Vietnamese wood industry are very positive. Although there is still pressure from logistics costs and requirements for legal wood traceability, many businesses have proactively adapted through investing in developing green supply chains and converting products to sustainable segments, better meeting international market standards.
