Strengthening agricultural and environmental sector connectivity with Chinese partners

Minister Tran Duc Thang hopes to strengthen connections and exchanges with China in the fields of agriculture and environment through the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.

On the afternoon of November 26, beginning a working trip to China from November 26-28, Minister Tran Duc Thang and a number of leaders of units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing and talked with Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized that this trip had many important tasks, meeting many Chinese partners and had been prepared for many months. He also thanked Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh as well as the Embassy staff for arranging and connecting so that the trip could take place as planned.

Citing the proportion of agricultural export value to the Chinese market compared to the total export turnover of the entire industry in recent years, Minister Tran Duc Thang stated: "China is an extremely important market for Vietnamese agricultural products."

He said that through meetings and exchanges like this occasion, he expected the export market of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products to China to continue to expand, flourish and increase in value.

Regarding personnel issues, the Minister said that in order to meet work requirements in many fields related to agriculture and the environment, next year the Ministry will arrange representative staff in China and hopes to receive help and support from the Ambassador as well as the Embassy's staff.

Another important issue included in the working trip was to exchange with Beijing city about experience in improving the environment and air quality.

"We can consult, exchange, learn from experiences and bring suitable solutions to Vietnam," the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment shared with Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh.

According to the Minister, climate change is causing great pressure on many areas of Vietnam and learning from experience to find early and remote solutions is necessary to deal with this problem.

Emphasizing the desire to contribute to the country both in the short and long term, Minister Tran Duc Thang said the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment really wants the Vietnamese Embassy in China to continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry and regularly exchange on issues related to the industry.

"If we open up one more product to China, it will benefit thousands of farmers," he said, affirming that the Ministry and its affiliated units will create the best conditions for Chinese partners who want to connect, through the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.

For his part, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh expressed his joy at the news that the Ministry would add personnel to China next year. The Ambassador affirmed that, in addition to economic contributions, the agriculture and environment sector also solves the livelihood problem for millions of farmers, so adding personnel is extremely necessary.

"The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is related to many ministries and sectors of China, so the Embassy will make every effort to strengthen its supporting and connecting role in the sectors' fields," Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh further affirmed.

In the same way, the Ambassador and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in China will create the best conditions for the Ministry's additional personnel in the coming time to complete assigned tasks.
