Busy delivering Tet flowers.

Taking advantage of an early Tet holiday break, Luong Van Hung spends almost all his time transporting peach and kumquat trees for hire at the spring flower market. On average, he delivers 8-10 trees from the spring flower market to customers each day, with a transportation fee ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 VND per trip. Luong Van Hung, from Xuan Tang ward, Lao Cai city, shared: "I connect with gardeners; those I know call me. It's very hard work, going out early and coming home late, carrying heavy loads, but I'm still very happy because I earn money" (photo above) .

Bringing 300 peach blossom trees to the spring flower market, Ms. Tran Thi Lan has already delivered about 150 to customers. She anticipates increased demand in the coming days as workers take time off for Tet (Lunar New Year) to shop for flowers and ornamental plants. Ms. Tran Thi Lan, a small trader at the spring flower market in Lao Cai city, shared: “Around this time last year, we probably sold 2-3 trees a day, but this year it seems more stable. If it falls on the 25th, 26th, or 27th, we work continuously, sometimes not even having time to eat. When motorbike taxis deliver the trees to customers, I tell them to be careful, because we have to ensure that our trees arrive beautiful, without scratches or broken branches.”

This year, the demand for Tet flowers has increased significantly, resulting in good incomes for small traders and seasonal workers.

As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, the demand for flowers increases, and this is also the peak season for flower vendors and delivery services. To meet customer demand, vendors have made plans to import goods early and deliver them as soon as customers make a purchase. Mr. Pham Van Quyet, a vendor at the spring flower market in Lao Cai city, shared: “Currently, we are still busy selling to customers, restocking, and potting. We still have to pot them first to ensure the plants are healthy, have enough water, and the flowers bloom beautifully and plumply; if the flowers don't bloom, they won't be suitable for Tet.”

Throughout the streets, colorful flags and banners adorn the landscape, and vehicles are busily bringing the spirit of spring to everyone, every home. The work is arduous, but it's still full of joy, because for seasonal workers, having a job and an income will help them celebrate a more fulfilling Tet holiday.
