This is an activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Vietnam, and the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro, Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, along with representatives of the Navy, Military Region 7 Command, Foreign Affairs Department of the Ministry of National Defense , City Command, Border Guard Command, and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs came to welcome the delegation.
During the visit to Ho Chi Minh City, the high-ranking delegation of the Italian Navy and the Morosini Naval Ship will pay courtesy visits to the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Military Region 7 Command, and the Naval Region 2 Command. The officers and sailors of the Morosini will participate in sports and cultural exchange activities; exchange experiences and practice together in some maritime fields, mobilize the sea information exchange team (PASSEX) with officers and soldiers of Naval Region 2 and visit some historical and cultural relics and scenic spots of Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, on board the Morosini there will be activities such as: an exhibition of images on political , diplomatic, economic, scientific and cultural relations between the two countries provided by the Italian News Agency ANSA and the Vietnam News Agency; a seminar on yachts and marinas with the theme "Italian experience for new fields in Vietnam", with the participation of the Italian maritime industry association and experts and architects from the two countries.
The ITS Morosini is the most modern multi-purpose offshore patrol vessel of the Italian Navy, which will be put into service from 2022. The vessel is designed and equipped with multi-purpose dual-purpose features to carry out patrol, logistics, search and rescue, maritime combat and civil defense missions. The vessel is 143 m long, 16.5 m wide, has a displacement of more than 6,600 tons, a maximum speed of 32 nautical miles/h and a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles. The ITS Morosini is designed with a special double-pronged bow; equipped with an air and ground surveillance radar system; electronic warfare system, tracking sensor system, diver detection sonar... The vessel has a 25.5 m flight deck and carries a SH90/EH1011 helicopter.
The visit of the Morosini naval ship to Ho Chi Minh City is a practical activity contributing to maintaining the friendly relations between Vietnam and Italy in general and the defense cooperation between the two countries in particular.
