Tay Ninh: Thunderstorms and tornadoes caused many houses to collapse and rip off roofs, 1 person injured

On July 20 and 21, many localities in Tay Ninh province were affected by heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and tornadoes, causing damage to people, property and agricultural production. The total preliminary damage value is estimated at more than 411 million VND.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, Do Huu Phuong, gave a quick report on the damage caused by natural disasters on July 20 and 21. Accordingly, many localities in Tay Ninh province were affected by heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and tornadoes, causing damage to property and agricultural production.

Statistics as of the morning of July 22 showed that the natural disaster had injured one person, completely collapsed three houses, damaged the roofs of 32 houses, damaged one super-rickety house, and damaged the roof of one agency headquarters. In addition, more than 130 hectares of rice ready for harvest were knocked down; many electric poles, billboards, trees, and lighting were also damaged.

The injured person was Mr. Nguyen Van Bon (born in 1942), residing in Thanh Ba hamlet, My Loc commune, who was hit by a falling tree during a storm, resulting in head and shoulder injuries. After receiving emergency care, his health has stabilized. Local authorities have visited and encouraged the family.

In My Loc commune, the storm blew off the roofs of 2 houses, collapsed a thatched hut, broke 2 low-voltage electric poles and tilted 5 electric poles. Many trees were uprooted and a large billboard collapsed.

Vinh Hung Commune has 2 houses with blown-off roofs, of which 1 house has a completely blown-off roof.

Binh Thanh commune was affected with 1 prefabricated house having its roof blown off, 1 house being crooked and 2 broken electric poles.

In Moc Hoa Commune, 1 house completely collapsed, 2 houses had their roofs blown off, and 1 lighting pole was damaged. In addition, more than 130 hectares of rice in Tan Thiet, Kinh 12, Ca No, and Muong Khai hamlets were destroyed.

Tuyen Thanh commune suffered the most damage with 1 house collapsed, 12 houses had their roofs blown off, of which 4 houses had their roofs completely blown off, 8 houses had their roofs partially blown off.

Thanh Phuoc Commune had the roofs of 3 houses in Thanh Trung, Ca Co and Thanh Lap hamlets blown off.

Go Dau Ward has a house with a completely blown roof in Thanh Binh B Hamlet.

Thuan My commune recorded 3 houses and 1 office building with damaged roofs.

Dong Thanh Commune recorded 6 houses with blown roofs in Vinh, My Hung, Voi and Thanh Tay hamlets.

Immediately after the disaster, the People's Committees of communes and wards promptly established teams to survey the scene and mobilize local forces to support people in overcoming the consequences. Many localities organized the clearing of fallen trees, replacement of lighting, bracing of houses and provision of temporary support to affected households.

According to initial statistics, the total estimated preliminary damage in the whole province is more than 411 million VND. Localities continue to make detailed assessments to have appropriate support plans in the coming time.

In Dong Thanh commune, on the afternoon of July 20, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune Ta Hong Trang directed the commune military force to coordinate with the school and local people to cover and clean up the scene.

On the morning of July 21, Mr. Ta Hong Trang visited, encouraged and provided emergency support of 1 million VND to each affected household.

Leaders of Dong Thanh commune visited and supported households affected by natural disasters.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province is continuing to summarize the damage, coordinate with relevant units to propose to the Provincial People's Committee timely support plans to help people soon stabilize their lives and restore production after natural disasters.

Faced with complex natural disasters, the industry also noted and advised people to be careful when traveling, and to closely monitor weather forecasts to proactively reinforce houses, secure furniture, and prune trees to prevent risks and damage caused by natural disasters./.
