Young player challenges veteran at National Table Tennis Championship Nhan Dan Newspaper

On May 12, the Organizing Committee of the 43rd Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship held a press conference to announce information about the tournament. This is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in Vietnamese sports , held annually since 1982.

This year, the tournament takes place from May 19 to 26 at Tien Son Sports Palace (Da Nang), with the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 21 strong delegations across the country such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Duong, Khanh Hoa, Army, Hanoi Police T&T...

Athletes will compete in 7 events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team and women's team.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Que Dinh Nguyen - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper - said that this year's tournament took place in the context of many positive signs for Vietnamese table tennis. Notably, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh won the women's singles gold medal at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship, two gold medals in the men's doubles U15 and women's doubles U17 at the 2025 US Open, along with 1 gold medal and 5 bronze medals from the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Championship.

"These impressive achievements are a big boost for the young generation of athletes and promise to bring many surprises and drama to this year's tournament when young players can create interesting upsets against their seniors," Mr. Nguyen shared.

According to Mr. Phan Anh Tuan - in charge of table tennis (Department of Sports and Physical Training), this year's tournament is an opportunity to evaluate performance, thereby selecting the best faces for the national team attending the 33rd SEA Games and the delegations preparing forces for the 2026 National Sports Festival.

All of Vietnam's top tennis players will be present, such as Tran Mai Ngoc, Nguyen Duc Tuan, Dinh Anh Hoang, Nguyen Anh Tu and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh...

The total prize value is up to 500 million VND. Of which, the champion team will receive 50 million VND, while the champions of the men's and women's singles will receive 30 million VND each. In addition, there are additional prizes such as: promising young athletes (male, female), localities with good development movements and the organizing unit.
