Thai Thuy: Building a strong militia and self-defense force

Over the years, the Thai Thuy District Military Command has constantly innovated the content and training methods for the militia and self-defense forces, improving coordination capabilities, combat readiness, and successfully completing tasks.

Thai Thuy District Military Command checks the disassembly and assembly of AK guns for the militia and self-defense force.

At the 2023 militia and self-defense force (MND) sports festival organized by the Thai Thuy District Military Command, the live-fire exercise contributed to improving the combat readiness of the MND force in all situations.

As a female soldier participating in the AK shooting competition, militia Vu Huong Giang, Thai Nguyen commune said: Last year I participated in AK shooting and achieved excellent results with a score of 27/30 points. This year I continue to participate in the sports festival with the spirit of constantly learning, striving, determined to achieve the highest score not only in the AK shooting competition but also in grenade throwing and gun disassembly. Participating in the sports festival is an honor and pride for me, I will try to arrange my work at the agency and family to be able to fully participate in training activities and perform well the assigned tasks.

Right from the beginning of the year, the Military Command of Thai Thuy district has directed the Military Commands of communes, towns, agencies and units in the district to organize training for the militia and self-defense forces with the motto "Basic, practical, quality, effective".

According to Major Pham Van Chuc, Assistant Staff, Thai Thuy District Military Command: The Party Committee and the District Military Command regularly organize training, improve professional skills and inspection methods for all training contents. Thereby helping training participants to correctly and practically assess the training quality of each locality, agency, and unit, thereby advising on training plans suitable to reality.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phon, Commander of Tan Hoc Commune Military Command, said: The Commune Military Command organizes training for mobile militia, second-year and fourth-year militia; in which, training focuses on raising political awareness, throwing grenades at a distance, wrapping explosives, and shooting AK guns. We are determined that 100% of male militiamen will achieve good results in the political awareness test, over 80% will achieve good and excellent results in live ammunition practice; female soldiers are proficient in all positions, and have the standard demeanor of a soldier.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Hoai, Commander of the Thai Thuy District Military Command, said: The militia is a permanent force at the grassroots level, ready to participate in maintaining security and order, and handling situations in natural disaster prevention and control. The District Military Command sends cadres to each commune, town, agency, and unit to organize training; organize the assessment of training plans of localities and units, approve lesson plans according to the program content, and focus on improving the quality of first-year militia training and militia and marine militia training. Through inspection, the training work of localities and units basically meets the requirements.

From now until the end of the year, the Thai Thuy District Military Command will continue to improve the quality of militia training. In particular, it will focus on training grassroots military cadres and military command leaders of communes and towns to effectively carry out local defense and military tasks; at the same time, it will innovate training methods that are close to the reality of each locality and unit, striving for training results of over 75% of militia soldiers to achieve good and excellent results. Along with that, it will strengthen training and discover militia soldiers with good moral qualities, good cultural level, good professional capacity to train and introduce them for Party membership..., contributing to building a strong grassroots armed force to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
