Warm friendship at the ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Vietnam - Hungary diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day

On the evening of April 29 in Budapest, in a solemn and warm atmosphere, the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary solemnly celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Hungary diplomatic relations (February 3, 1950 - February 3, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The ceremony was attended by the First Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament, Ms. Márta Mátrai; Vice Presidents of the Parliament: Mr. István Jakab and Mr. Lajos Oláh; Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Kovacs Katalin, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy, Mr. Tibor Ibolya; Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Mr. Stifter Adam; Chairman of the Hungary - Vietnam Friendship Association, Mr. Botz László, along with many leaders of ministries, branches, diplomatic officials, many friends and the Vietnamese community in Hungary.

The event is not only an opportunity to review the proud historical journey in the relationship between the two countries, affirming the traditional friendship that is strong and increasingly developing between Vietnam and Hungary, but also arousing the pride of the Vietnamese community in Hungary in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time, it also recalls the heroic, arduous but also extremely glorious historical journey of the nation's struggle with the great victory in the Spring of 1975, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, bringing Vietnam into a new era: the era of independence, freedom, happiness, civilization, prosperity, with an important position and voice in the international community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized that the 75 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary is a proud journey, nurtured by solidarity, trust and sustainable cooperation. The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude for the valuable assistance that the Government and people of Hungary have given to Vietnam during the years of struggle for independence and national reunification as well as in the current process of Doi Moi and development. The Ambassador also affirmed that despite the great geographical distance and the changes that have been and are taking place in the world , the Party, Government and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and wish to further develop the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai presented the special magazine published by the Embassy in collaboration with Eurasia Magazine to the honored guests on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Looking back on half a century since the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, Ambassador Bui Le Thai affirmed that this was not only a great victory for the Vietnamese people but also a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, of the will for independence, self-reliance and the strength of great national unity, of international solidarity and of the truth that "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". "Today, Vietnam is entering a new era - an era of national growth with confidence, self-reliance, self-reliance and national pride," Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai also affirmed that with a history of 75 years of friendship and cooperation, a solid foundation of relations, a high level of political trust between the leaders of the two countries, empathy and deep understanding between the two peoples, the sharing of common values ​​including the aspiration for peace, progress and prosperity, the consensus and determination of both sides, Vietnam and Hungary will continue to write new pages in the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

On behalf of the Hungarian Government and the Hungarian Parliament, Ms. Márta Mátrai, First Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament, conveyed warm congratulations from Mr. László Kövér, President of the Hungarian Parliament, and the entire Hungarian Parliament and Government to the people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary; congratulated the achievements that Vietnam has made since the reunification of the country in 1975, and expressed pride that Hungary had contributed to Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and national reunification, especially through its participation in the International Commission for Supervision and Control of the Vietnam Armistice (ICCS) during the period 1973-1975.

Ms. Márta Mátrai highly appreciated the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially the cooperation between the two National Assemblies - one of the solid pillars of bilateral cooperation - through visits by leaders of the National Assembly, the National Assembly's Committees and the organization of seminars to share experiences in law-making. Ms. Márta Mátrai also announced that the Speaker of the National Assembly László Kövér has accepted the invitation and is expected to visit Vietnam in October this year. Appreciating the role of the Vietnamese community in Hungary in contributing to the development and prosperity of Hungary, Ms. Márta Mátrai affirmed that the Hungarian Government and National Assembly always create favorable conditions for the community to integrate well into the locality.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai presented the special magazine published by the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary in collaboration with Eurasia Magazine to the honored guests on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In addition to the solemn ceremony, the celebration also brought meaningful cultural experiences. More than 500 guests enjoyed special performances, traditional Vietnamese dishes, photo exhibitions, and film screenings recreating the 75-year journey of Vietnam-Hungary friendship and 50 years of building and developing Vietnam.

Held at Pesti Vigado - a famous place on the banks of the poetic Danube River - the ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Vietnam - Hungary relations and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification left a deep impression on the participants, adding motivation for the two countries to continue to write new pages of history for their relations.
