Detective Kien surpasses 100 billion, Victor Vu scores a hat-trick at the box office

As of 8:00 a.m. on May 3, the film had earned more than VND102 billion, including revenue from early screenings from 6:00 p.m. on April 25, April 26 and 27, official screenings from April 30, and pre-sold tickets.

Detective Kien: The Headless Case became the 8th Vietnamese film in 2025 to reach a revenue of hundreds of billions, along with The Four Guardians , Billionaire Kiss , Ghost Lights , Ancestral House , Ghost in the Palace , Tunnel: Sun in the Dark and Flip Side 8: Sunbeams .

This is also the third film by director Victor Vu to reach the hundred billion mark, after Blue Eyes and The Last Wife .

According to the crew, the film sold 1 million tickets after only 6 days in theaters, including early screenings.

On the Box Office Vietnam daily box office chart, Detective Kien: Headless Case is currently leading director Ly Hai's Flip Side 8: Vong Tay Nang with the most recent day's revenue reaching over 4.4 billion VND (compared to 4.3 billion VND), equivalent to 51,260 tickets sold. The number of screenings also narrowed the gap (2,793 screenings compared to 3,126 screenings).

The box office race between the two films is becoming the focus of the April 30 holiday season. However, as of the morning of May 3, Lat Mat 8 is still leading the total revenue with more than 118 billion VND.

The film crew of Detective Kien is currently actively promoting through cinetour activities. On May 3, the crew will interact with audiences at many cinemas in Ho Chi Minh City; on May 4, they will continue to Da Nang to meet fans.
