Defeating Thailand, Vietnamese women's sepak takraw wins world championship

(Dan Tri) - Surprisingly defeating host Thailand in the final match of the women's 4-person event in the final match this afternoon (July 27), the Vietnamese team won the world sepak takraw championship.

The final match took place this afternoon at the Hat Yai shopping mall (Songkhla, Thailand). The Vietnamese women's team will meet the Thai women's team in the 4-a-side women's event.

In the first regu (game), the Vietnamese team played very well, but encountered the brave host team Thailand. The girls from the Land of the Golden Pagoda won the first regu with a score of 15-12.

In the second set, the Vietnamese girls played with great determination. Their high spirits helped the Vietnamese women's team to have some great finishes. The Vietnamese girls maintained their form, before ending the second set with a score difference of 15-8.

By the third regu, the decisive regu, Thailand had a better start. They led the Vietnamese women's team 5-2. However, from the moment we reached the 8th point, the Vietnamese women's team continuously gained points, putting Thailand in a difficult position.

At the end of the 3rd round, the Vietnamese women's team won 15-7, and in the end we won 2-1 (12-15, 15-8 and 15-7), winning the championship.

With the championship of the 4-person women's event, the Vietnamese sepak takraw team has paid off the debt of losing to the Thai team in the final match of the women's team event yesterday (July 26).

The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team won one gold medal and two silver medals at the 2025 World Championship for the King's Cup. Before winning the gold medal this afternoon, we had two silver medals in the women's and men's 4-person team events.
