In order to practically celebrate the 74th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnam Industry and Trade sector (May 14, 1951 - May 14, 2025), on the morning of May 9, the Industry and Trade Newspaper coordinated with the Youth Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) to organize a talk show with the theme: "Youth of the Industry and Trade sector: 74 years of development and future orientation" .

The pioneering role of youth in the Industry and Trade sector

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, journalist Nguyen Tien Cuong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Industry and Trade Newspaper affirmed: During 74 years of formation and development, the Industry and Trade sector has continuously grown, affirming its core role in the cause of socio-economic development, international integration and protection of national sovereignty .

On that journey, the industry's youth force always holds a pioneering position. At any stage, the youth of the Industry and Trade sector has demonstrated a pioneering and creative spirit, being the pioneer force in implementing many important tasks, from administrative reform to digital transformation, from professional activities to social work, volunteering for the community.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, the seminar is an opportunity to look back at the contributions of young people to the overall development of the industry; at the same time, exchange and discuss orientations to promote the role, responsibility and potential of young people in the next stage, when science and technology, digital transformation and innovation are increasingly becoming decisive factors in competitiveness and management efficiency.

Improving digital capacity for young officials in the Industry and Trade sector

At the seminar, Mr. To Xuan Bao - Chief of Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized the urgent need to improve digital capacity for cadres, civil servants, and public employees, especially youth union members, who play a role in the modern political and administrative system.

According to Mr. To Xuan Bao, in the context of strong digital transformation, young people in the Industry and Trade sector have many favorable conditions to access technology, but are also facing new requirements for innovative thinking, the ability to master digital tools and global integration capacity.

Citing the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Mr. To Xuan Bao affirmed: "The young generation is the core force in creating a modern digital society. The strong development of high-quality human resources, especially young people, is a strategic solution for the country" .

From there, the Chief of Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed 3 key orientations: Raising awareness and spirit of lifelong learning; Creating a practical environment to encourage creativity; Linking digital capacity with planning and evaluating young cadres.

"Young people only truly mature when they are assigned tasks, face challenges and have space to act. We need to boldly assign real and difficult tasks to fully develop their potential," said Mr. To Xuan Bao, emphasizing that digital transformation is an inevitable trend. In that process, the Party organization plays a guiding role, the government creates conditions and young people are the implementing force, the nucleus of innovation. We need to continue to spread the culture of innovation and pioneering spirit to every member, every Party cell, and every unit.

Accelerating digital transformation in union activities

At the seminar, emphasizing that the current new context poses urgent and comprehensive requirements for the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tam - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the Youth Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade determined that digital transformation and innovation must become the driving force throughout the activities of the Union. Building a generation of young cadres with political will, solid expertise, digital thinking and integration capacity is the central task.

Besides, the Youth Union must be an effective bridge between young people and leaders at all levels, contributing to creating a new development space for young people in the whole industry.

Regarding the future orientation, the Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that it will focus on promoting the application of digital technology in Union activities, enhancing digital management platforms, online interactions, and knowledge sharing in the digital environment; Launching youth movements associated with innovation, from proposing initiatives and technical improvements at agencies and units to green transformation models and renewable energy;

Building a network of members "Skilled in expertise - Rich in ideas - Dare to be pioneers", especially in key areas of the Ministry such as import and export, energy, manufacturing and processing industry and digital trade;

Promote learning activities of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, organize forums and in-depth discussions so that each member can clearly understand and specifically contribute to the implementation of this Resolution.

"Today's young generation needs to clearly realize that we are not only the inheritors but also the creators of the future of the Industry and Trade sector. Our responsibility is to continue the glorious tradition, while proactively breaking through, surpassing our own limits, conquering new knowledge and new technology to contribute to building a modern, sustainable and integrated Industry and Trade sector," emphasized comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tam.
