Applied Arts and Folk Arts are important contents in the exhibition system of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, contributing to clearly reflecting the development history of Vietnamese fine arts from traditional to modern. These two exhibitions always attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit, research, learn and enjoy.
Here we introduce a selection of typical applied art objects of some ethnic groups, and some types of folk paintings and statues, expressing the beauty in aesthetic thinking, reflecting spiritual life, sophisticated professional skills, creativity, national cultural identity and aesthetic values of Vietnamese culture.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, shared: "The exhibition space for Applied Fine Arts and Folk Fine Arts was previously displayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Building B. After many years of serving the public, the equipment has deteriorated, its aesthetic value has decreased and it no longer meets the needs of visitors. For that reason, in 2022, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum implemented the project to reorganize the exhibition of the Collection of Applied Fine Arts and Folk Fine Arts. After 2 years of implementation, the project has now been completed."

Due to limited exhibition space, the Museum and its partners have researched, explored and applied technology as a solution to optimize space and overcome limitations in exhibition space.
At the same time, the Museum has developed a search software to provide information and images of unexhibited artifacts, helping viewers learn more about the Museum's collection of applied arts and folk arts. At the same time, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts has also developed a plan to periodically rotate artifacts, contributing to diversifying and enriching this exhibition space.

Recently, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has implemented the renovation of the Applied Fine Arts and Folk Art Exhibition Space. The professional display system with glass cabinets, shelves, colors and lights highlights the aesthetic elements of each artifact, along with the application of 3D mapping projection technology, interactive screens to look up artifact information... creating a unique feature.
Abundant resources and industrious, skillful people are favorable conditions for Vietnam to develop handicrafts. Applied arts are therefore always created and developed in a variety of materials, serving practical life. From daily needs, craft villages and guilds gradually formed and developed into commercial production scales. The 54 ethnic groups on the S-shaped strip of land have contributed to creating a diverse identity in applied art products.

Vietnamese folk art has a long tradition, is a unique art treasure, reflecting the spiritual life, creativity and aesthetic values of Vietnamese culture. The themes of folk paintings and statues originate from spiritual life, reflecting the desire for happiness, faith, beliefs and always containeducational elements. With two main forms of paintings and statues, folk art not only serves beliefs and festivals, but also contributes to moral education and personality in daily life.
To this day, Vietnamese folk art continues to be preserved, studied, enjoyed and passed down through many generations. Some paintings and sculptures are gradually being restored, contributing to reviving traditional artistic values in the midst of modernity.

With both modern and traditional innovations, the Applied Arts and Folk Arts Exhibition Space continues to enrich the experience for visitors, contributing to making the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum one of the outstanding destinations for domestic and international art lovers to visit, study and experience.
