On June 26, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province celebrated the 80th anniversary of the cultural sector's traditional day.

This meaningful event not only looks back on the glorious past but also orients the future development of the industry, contributing to building a civilized, modern Quang Tri imbued with national identity.

Mr. Le Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that Quang Tri has a long history, is a place where many cultures converge and intersect, and has nurtured and molded many famous people, heroes and gallant men.

"The merger of provinces is a strategic step, demonstrating a long-term vision in the country's sustainable development.

In that career, the cultural sector plays a particularly important role in connecting history, tradition, and diverse cultural identities, laying the foundation for building a cultural space rich in identity in the process of building and developing the homeland," said Mr. Tien.

In recent years, the culture, sports and tourism sector of Quang Tri province has achieved many remarkable results.

Especially the 2024 Peace Festival with the theme "Joining hands to build a peaceful world". This is a festival with a message of peace, held for the first time in Vietnam on a national and international scale, contributing to affirming the cultural and historical position of the province.

The industry is consulting on a project to build a "Museum of War Memories and Aspiration for Peace" with a budget of 1,000 billion VND. At the same time, it is preparing a dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for recognition of the "Ancient Water Exploitation System in Quang Tri Region" as a special national relic.

In particular, the department is preparing a nomination dossier to submit to UNESCO for inclusion in the World Heritage List for two relics: the Ancient Water Exploitation System in Quang Tri region and the special national relics of Vinh Moc Tunnels and Vinh Linh Tunnel Village System (phase 1).

By 2030, the Quang Tri cultural sector has set many ambitious goals: 100% of special national relics, 30% of national relics, and 20% of provincial relics will be properly restored and embellished;

The rate of people participating in regular physical exercise and sports is estimated at 40% of the population; striving to attract 4.2 million tourists, including 740,000 international visitors and 3.5 million domestic visitors.

Quang Tri is the land that gave birth to many outstanding writers and cultural researchers with important contributions such as: Nguyen Van Tuong, Le Ba Dang, poet Che Lan Vien, musician Tran Hoan (former Minister of Culture and Information), and especially General Secretary Le Duan - one of the outstanding leaders of the Vietnamese revolution in the 20th century.
