After taking the Literature exam, many candidates shared their work. Each of them had their own feelings about the work "Different Skies", as well as gave different explanations about the theme: every homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky.

This year, according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program, the Literature exam is somewhat innovative compared to previous years. Instead of analyzing a literary work available in the curriculum, candidates are exposed to completely new material content. In addition, the exam structure has also changed.

At Nguyen Truong To Secondary School, Dong Da District, Hanoi , candidate Tran Quynh Huong (student of Le Quy Don High School) said: This year's Literature exam is very topical. The reading comprehension part is not too difficult, requiring candidates to grasp the content and use good text analysis skills. In addition, they need to know how to compare to point out the similarities in meaning between the texts.

"I have reviewed this type of question many times and practiced writing about my hometown and country, so I was not surprised when I received the test," said contestant Tran Quynh Huong.

The work "Different Skies" by Nguyen Minh Chau was included in the Literature exam.

From the reading comprehension of the text "Different Skies" and the understanding of the country's context of great changes, the candidate wrote an essay on the topic: Every homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky. The length of this essay is about 600 words.

According to contestant Tran Quynh Huong, although "Different Sky Zones" is a completely new work to many people. However, the author of the short story - writer Nguyen Minh Chau has left a deep impression on many generations of students with two works "Ben que" and "Buc tranh". Thanks to that, contestants can feel the writing style, as well as know the topics that the author often writes about and writes deeply.

"My essay starts with an analysis of the country's context and the world situation. I mention the changes in science , technology, and cultural industry that are opening up both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam. From there, I emphasize the responsibility of the young generation across the country towards the Fatherland," Quynh Huong said.

Sharing the same view, contestant Nguyen Yen Ngoc (student of Hoang Cau High School, Dong Da district) focused on discussing the responsibility of each individual when the country is facing great changes.

"It can be understood that 'sky' implicitly refers to the locality where each person was born and raised. Contributing to the 'sky', making the 'sky' shine, is also contributing to the Fatherland. Each individual, no matter how little or how much, needs to take practical actions to contribute to building the homeland to become more and more beautiful," said contestant Nguyen Yen Ngoc.

Reflecting on the two images of "homeland sky" and "fatherland sky", contestant Vu Dan Le (student of Dong Da Secondary School, Dong Da District) commented that placing these two images side by side in the context of many localities also merging evokes solidarity, emphasizing the unanimity of each Vietnamese child. And the spirit of solidarity is also an ancient tradition of the Vietnamese people.

"I cited the example of Typhoon Yagi, which caused heavy damage to the northern provinces of our country in 2024. That storm caused the once peaceful Nu village to sink into loss. At that time, our whole country turned to the 'sky' of Lao Cai, where Nu village is located. And together we revived this village after the fierce storm," contestant Vu Dan Le shared about his essay.

Candidate Khanh Ha (student of Kim Lien High School, Dong Da District) commented that with the open-ended format of the exam, allowing candidates to determine the problem themselves, there is no answer that is completely correct for all. The important thing is whether you can convince the examiner with your viewpoint and evidence.

Applying geographical knowledge and understanding of the law, Khanh Ha determined that, along with sea and land, airspace is an integral part of national territory.

"From this perspective, it is clear that, literally, the sky is also a part of the Fatherland. Therefore, there should be no distinction based on location, region or origin of each person. Because we all have the same identity, we are all Vietnamese," contestant Khanh Ha explained.

With open-ended questions, candidates are left to determine the problem themselves, and there is no one answer that is completely correct for everyone. The important thing is whether you can convince the examiner with your point of view and the evidence you provide.

As one of the last candidates to leave Nguyen Truong To Secondary School, Minh Hang expressed confidence in her Literature test.

"Like many other students, I feel that practicality and social aspects are emphasized in this Literature exam format. At the same time, we need to skillfully apply the skills of writing literary and social essays to explain the same topic," contestant Minh Hang told reporters.

The issue raised by the short story "Different Skies" reminded Minh Hang of the famous saying that her teacher once mentioned in the work "Patriotism" by Russian writer and poet Ilya Ehrenburg: "The stream flows into the river, the river flows into the Volga, the Volga flows to the sea. Love for home, love for the village, becomes love for the Fatherland".

"Love for the sky is the origin of love for the Fatherland. And no matter what the circumstances, Vietnamese people always turn to their roots, preserve national pride with the spirit of constantly learning and progressing to develop the country and integrate internationally," Minh Hang added.
