The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued a decision to standardize the training program on semiconductor microcircuits at the undergraduate and master's levels.

A minimum score of 8 points in one subject is required to be considered for admission to the semiconductor industry -0
Vietnam aims to train 50,000 human resources with university degrees or higher in the semiconductor industry.

Accordingly, the entrance standards of the training program for bachelor and engineer levels require that in the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, the candidate's admission combination must include Mathematics, with at least one subject in Natural Sciences suitable for the semiconductor training program. The total score of the subjects in the admission combination must reach at least 80% of the scale. For example, a minimum of 24/30 points for a combination of 3 subjects. In which, the Math test score must reach at least 80% of the scale, that is, at least 8/10 points.

Candidates with a university degree must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8/4 or higher (or equivalent) for their graduate program. Candidates who are students transferring from other training programs to microchip and semiconductor training programs must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5/4 and meet other requirements. Candidates applying for a master's degree must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8/4 or higher or equivalent for their graduate program in addition to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The Ministry of Education and Training also announced the list of semiconductor human resource training majors and output standards of training majors/programs, of which there are 38 majors at the undergraduate level and 37 majors at the master's level.

Previously, in September 2024, the Government approved the Semiconductor Industry Human Resource Development Program to 2030, with a vision to 2050. This is a major step forward in making Vietnam one of the world's leading centers in the semiconductor sector, an industry that is becoming a pillar in the global economy.

The program aims to have at least 50,000 trained workers with university degrees or higher by 2030. By 2050, Vietnam will have a strong workforce, joining the global semiconductor industry value chain, meeting development requirements in both quality and quantity.

The Ministry of Education and Training has also requested universities to have preferential policies, including scholarships, tuition exemptions, and dormitories for students majoring in this field.
