The breathtaking beauty of Vung Chua peak in the heart of Quy Nhon coastal city, Binh Dinh.
Vung Chua Mountain is located in the heart of Quy Nhon coastal city (Binh Dinh) with an altitude of about 600m above sea level. This place is considered a miniature "Da Lat" in the coastal area and has long been a destination attracting many tourists who love nature and those who are passionate about exploring , running, and climbing.
Located on the top of the mountain is Vung Chua Radar Station, one of Vietnam's important aviation surveillance facilities, built and put into operation since 1994.
From the top of Vung Chua - the "Roof" of Quy Nhon city, you can see the whole coastal city stretching in an arc shape. In the distance is Thi Nai saltwater lagoon sparkling silver in the sun, to the east is the blue Quy Hoa beach embracing the undulating mountain ranges stretching towards Phu Yen .
In the early mornings, the whole mountain area is covered in mist, the air is cool and fresh like in Da Lat.
In the afternoon sunset, this place offers a brilliant scene with the sunlight dyeing the whole sky and sea orange and yellow, creating a natural picture that is both majestic and poetic.
Not only attractive for its breathtaking landscape, Vung Chua is also special for its diverse ecosystem, especially the straight pine forests covering the hillsides, both sides of the steep, winding roads interspersed with native plants creating a rich vegetation.
With the advantages of terrain, climate and landscape, the leaders of Binh Dinh province have surveyed, seen the development potential and cherished the planning of a large-scale project complex here. The project includes a mountain golf course, a resort urban area, a space for scientific and technological research and housing for experts in the Vung Chua mountain area.
As planned, this complex will exploit about 300 hectares out of the total area of over 3,000 hectares of the area, mainly planted forests, no natural forests. The choice of Vung Chua is not random but a strategic step in shaping the model of ecological - scientific - resort urban development in Binh Dinh.
The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province requires that in planning and construction, maximum forest must be retained, especially the typical pine forests that are the “ecological face” of Vung Chua mountain. The province also commits to designing the golf course in harmony with the natural terrain, minimizing land leveling, deforestation or changes to the area’s topography.
Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee shared: “In the middle of the city, there is a large and beautiful hill area like Vung Chua Mountain but it has not been exploited. Therefore, it is necessary to study the planning to promote efficiency, not only in tourism, services, science and technology but also increase mobility, ensuring national security and defense for Quy Nhon city.”
If implemented as committed, the cherished dream of Binh Dinh province's leaders will not only be a typical project on ecological urban planning but also a "push" to bring Binh Dinh's tourism - science brand to a new height and from there the ecological "dream" of the people of Quy Nhon coastal city will come true.
It is known that the above project is not just an idea, but has had practical preparations. In 2025, Binh Dinh plans to start construction of a strategic road connecting Quy Hoa Science and Education Urban Area to Long Van Urban Area, passing through Vung Chua Mountain. At the same time, the province is also considering building a mountain overpass to ensure traffic safety and minimize the destruction of the natural landscape.
