In the international market, in recent weeks, black pepper prices from Vietnam have fluctuated little. Meanwhile, pepper prices from Indonesia and Brazil have tended to decrease slightly, due to the new crop season taking place in these two countries.
Analysts say that there are currently many factors pushing pepper prices down. The reason is believed to be that capital is being drawn to coffee. Along with that, the Vietnamese coffee harvest season is approaching, expected in the fourth quarter of 2024, many traders will liquidate pepper to prepare capital to import coffee amid the context of Robusta prices increasing very high.
Domestic transactions are currently quite quiet as there is not much supply in the domestic market. However, experts are still optimistic that domestic pepper prices can rise above VND160,000/kg before the new harvest season in Vietnam.
