The launching ceremony of the architectural design competition for the Mekong Delta Agriculture Museum was held by the People's Committee of Vinh Long province on June 12, at the Memorial Area of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (Vung Liem district).

According to the organizers, the Mekong Delta plays an important role in the country's economy , with two main economic "pillars" being agriculture and aquaculture. Vietnam has more than 160 museums of many levels, many specialties, under many different ministries and branches. But no place has built an agricultural museum.

Therefore, the construction of an agricultural museum in the Mekong Delta is of great significance to the region in general and Vinh Long province in particular.

When in operation, the museum will not only be a place to preserve the beauty of agricultural culture, but also a place to honor Vietnamese farmers throughout the process of building and developing the country.

The competition aims to select the optimal investment plan for construction. Organize an agricultural museum, as a basis for implementing detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 and establishing an investment project for construction.

Find a design idea for the museum's architectural project, creating an important cultural institution worthy of the role and position of the agricultural sector.

Promoting the values of the agricultural cultural heritage of the Mekong Delta, serving the needs of tourism, study, scientific research, cultural enjoyment of the public and promoting current agricultural products... The museum is also the implementation of the will of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet during his lifetime.

The total prize value of the contest is up to nearly 2 billion VND. Including 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize, for prestigious organizations and individuals in the field of creative design consulting, operating domestically and internationally. The Organizing Committee will announce the results in October 2024.
