Nghia Lo town effectively promotes policies to support tourism development

Yen Bai - With the effort to make tourism an important economic sector, in recent times, Nghia Lo town has implemented a policy to support tourism development (PTDL) according to Resolution No. 10 (NQ 10) of the Provincial People's Council stipulating the promulgation of a number of policies to support PTDL in Yen Bai province for the period 2021 - 2025.

Comrade Luong Manh Ha - Vice Chairman of Nghia Lo Town People's Committee affirmed that Resolution 10 of the Provincial People's Council was issued very practically, promptly and effectively to help the town's tourism industry overcome the crisis caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a locality on the roadmap to become a cultural and tourist town by 2025, Nghia Lo town directly benefits a lot from this Resolution. Up to now, the town has 98 accommodation establishments; of which, there are 43 homestays, 55 hotels and motels serving the needs of tourists.

With the efforts to build the town’s tourism industry in particular and to build the key tourist area in the West of the province in general, the number of tourists coming to the town is increasing. Therefore, the need for support for tourism infrastructure and facilities; support for human resource development, promotion activities, and support for tourism resource development is also increasing.

To put Resolution 10 into practice, the town has focused on promoting and disseminating support mechanisms and policies to organizations, individuals, businesses, cooperatives, cooperative groups, households doing community tourism and the people.

In the period from 2021 to present, the town has 24 contents supported under Resolution 10 with a budget of nearly 500 million VND, including contents supporting the establishment and maintenance of 21 Thai and Muong ethnic art troupes; supporting the opening of 3 classes to teach in the field of intangible culture...

The support contents under Resolution 10 of the Provincial People's Council have helped to build core art troupes in parallel with community tourism models as well as cultural and artistic performance activities from the town scale to residential areas. Resources from Resolution 10 have encouraged people to practice enthusiastically and be more dedicated to preserving, conserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values of the locality, and have more funding to maintain and develop the team's activities.

The town not only cares about young art troupes but also pays special attention to developing conservation art troupes with members being the elderly who hold the traditional cultural values of Muong Lo land.

Foreign tourists appreciate the performances, cultural exchanges, and cultural experiences of ethnic groups participated in by the elderly in the villages. The difference is created by the simplicity, purity, originality, and folk knowledge that tourists experience.

For classes in the field of intangible cultural heritage, up to now, the town has been supported to open classes throughout Thailand. Participants are excellent artisans and those who are talented, dedicated, and passionate about Thai dances in Muong Lo. The classes have attracted the participation of many people.

The artisans who are dedicated to teaching and the students who are passionate about learning have contributed to fostering the love of the people for traditional culture. These will also be the core elements contributing to preserving and spreading the beauty of this cultural value in the community.

Vice Chairman Luong Manh Ha added: "According to the survey, currently, the demand for tourism support in the town is very large and focuses on the following contents: support for investment in qualified commercial business establishments, selling specialty products, OCOP products; support for investment in purchasing equipment at accommodation service businesses with rooms for tourists to rent; support for investment in purchasing waste collection equipment in villages with community tourism activities; support for building standard public toilets to serve tourists. The town has closely directed specialized agencies to guide organizations and individuals in need of support to complete their dossiers and send them to departments and branches for appraisal."

In the coming time, to practically and effectively implement Resolution 10, Nghia Lo town proposes that the province continue to study, adjust, supplement, and expand the beneficiaries and conditions in the direction of creating the most favorable conditions for organizations and individuals in need, contributing to the development of tourism in the town as well as in the Western region and Yen Bai province.
