AP, citing information from the Turkish Ministry of Defense on December 15, reported that Turkey shot down a drone that had gone out of control as it approached its airspace from the Black Sea.
"F-16 fighter jets were scrambled after detecting an unidentified object. To avoid potential danger, the object was shot down in an area outside of residential zones," the Turkish Ministry of Defense said in a statement. The statement did not provide further details about the location or time of the incident.

TRT reported that the incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the Black Sea, where Turkey has warned that the conflict in Ukraine is affecting regional maritime activity and trade.
Recently, Ankara proposed a limited security agreement aimed at protecting its shipping and energy infrastructure to ensure the safety of ships in the event of conflict.
"If a comprehensive ceasefire and peace agreement cannot be reached, we call for a limited agreement in two areas: curbing attacks on energy infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of commercial shipping in the Black Sea," Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on December 13.
