Weather forecast for the night of October 6 and 7: Storm circulation forecast to cause heavy rain in the North and Thanh Hoa

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts that from the evening of October 6 to the end of the night of October 7, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, there will be heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70 - 150mm, locally very heavy rain of over 250mm.

The Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa regions have moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50 - 100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm. Warning of risk of heavy rain (over 150mm/3 hours).

In addition, in the evening and night of October 6, Nghe An - Ha Tinh region will have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20 - 40mm, locally over 80mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.

Floods on rivers are likely to rise again.

However, from the evening of October 6 to October 8, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers in the Northern region, with a flood amplitude of 4-7m in the upper reaches of rivers and 2-3m in the lower reaches of rivers. During this flood, the flood peak on rivers in Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang provinces; the flood peak on Thao River, Chay River (Lao Cai), Lo River (Tuyen Quang) and small rivers is likely to rise above alert level 2; the flood peak on the Thai Binh River system (Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong) will rise to alert level 1, alert level 2, the flood peak at Hoa Binh Lake, Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh), and the lower reaches of the Red River in Hanoi will rise above alert level 1.

Therefore, there is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas in the Northern region; and a risk of flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of the Northern region.

River floods inundate low-lying areas along the river, affecting activities such as waterway transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio-economic activities.

Thunderstorms and strong winds at sea

Currently, there are showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf of Tonkin. It is forecasted that on the night of October 6 and on October 7, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf of Tonkin and the Gulf of Thailand. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves of over 2m high. All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

The Northwest has heavy rain and thunderstorms, some places have very heavy rain. Beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Lowest temperature 21 - 24 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas below 21 degrees Celsius; highest 24 - 27 degrees Celsius.

The Northeast has moderate to heavy rain, mountainous and midland areas have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain. Southeast wind level 2-3. Warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts. Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas below 22 degrees Celsius; highest 25-28 degrees Celsius.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue: in the North, it is cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain; in Thanh Hoa, there will be moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms. In the South, there will be rain in some places, sunny during the day. Southeast wind level 2 - 3. Warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts. Lowest temperature 24 - 27 degrees Celsius; highest from 31 - 34 degrees Celsius, in Thanh Hoa, 28 - 30 degrees Celsius.

In the South Central Coast, the sky is cloudy, sunny during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Southwest wind level 2 - 3. Beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Lowest temperature 24 - 27 degrees Celsius, highest 32 - 35 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands: Intermittent sunshine during the day; scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Southwest wind level 2-3. Warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts. Lowest temperature 19-22 degrees Celsius, some places below 19 degrees Celsius; highest 27-30 degrees Celsius.

In the South, there will be intermittent sunshine during the day; scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Southwest wind level 2-3. Beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius, highest 31-34 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi has moderate to heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain with thunderstorms. Southeast wind level 2 - 3. Warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind in thunderstorms. Lowest temperature 23 - 25 degrees Celsius, highest 26 - 28 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City has scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Southwest wind level 2 - 3. Warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind in thunderstorms. Lowest temperature 24 - 26 degrees Celsius, highest 32 - 34 degrees Celsius.
