Weather on November 24: Cold air strengthens, causing deep cold in the North, heavy rain continues in the Central region

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass in the North is still moving south and is expected to strengthen this afternoon and tonight. By the evening and night of November 24, the cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then spread to the Northwest and North Central regions. Northeast winds on land will gradually strengthen to level 3-4, and coastal areas to level 4-5.

Due to the impact of cold air, the North and North Central regions generally have no rain. From November 25, the weather will turn cold, with some places in the high mountains experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North and North Central regions is generally 12-15 degrees Celsius, with some places in the high mountains below 10 degrees Celsius. From November 25, the Hanoi area will also turn cold, with the lowest temperature generally being 13-15 degrees Celsius.

At sea, strong winds continue to persist and tend to increase. In the North East Sea, strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9 have appeared. It is forecasted that during the day and night of November 24, the northeast wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will gradually increase to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, and waves 2.0-4.0 m high. The area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau and the Central East Sea will have northeast winds of level 5, sometimes level 6; at night it will increase to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas with waves 2.0-4.0 m high.

In addition, the Central and Southern East Sea areas, including the Truong Sa sea area, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang and the Southern Gulf of Thailand have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.

In the Central and Central Highlands, heavy rain continued on the morning of November 24. Hue City, Da Nang City and the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, and northern Khanh Hoa had rain, showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. It is forecasted that during the day and night of November 24, Hue City, Da Nang City and the eastern part of Quang Ngai province will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain with rainfall of 30-60 mm, with some areas experiencing over 120 mm.

In the East of Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Northern Khanh Hoa provinces, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30 mm, in some places over 60 mm. There is a high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, especially in places where there has been heavy rain for many days.

The meteorological agency recommends that people in the northern mountainous areas proactively keep warm and avoid the cold. Localities in the central and Central Highlands regions closely monitor heavy rains to have timely response measures, ensuring safety for people and infrastructure.
