The Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense has just informed about the guidelines for organizing admission to full-time military university and college training at military academies and schools (hereinafter referred to as schools) in 2025.
Admission on a 30-point scale
This year, military schools use 3 admission methods: Direct admission, priority admission according to the university admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , regulations of the Ministry of National Defense; Admission based on the results of the capacity assessment exam organized by Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025; Admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam in 2025.
Candidates can register to participate in all admission methods.
The total admission score consists of 3 components: The candidate's test score in the high school graduation exam or the capacity assessment test score, incentive points, and regional and subject priority points.
Notably, the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense regulates the admission score scale. Schools agree to use a 30-point scale, corresponding to the total score of 3 subjects in the admission combination from the results of the High School Graduation Exam on a 10-point scale for admission consideration.
Convert the scores of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test and the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test to a 30-point scale for admission consideration.
Military Science Academy, majors with double foreign language scores, convert to 30-point scale for admission consideration.
Convert foreign language scores from international language certificate results
The general rule is to convert into admission scores for candidates with IELTS foreign language scores of 5.5 points or higher or TOEFL iBT scores of 55 points or higher.
The Academy of Military Sciences will convert scores for candidates with a Russian language certificate TRKI-2 or higher to apply for admission to the Russian Language major, and candidates with a Chinese language certificate HSK-4 or higher to apply for admission to the Chinese Language major.
Foreign language score conversion is not applicable for international foreign language certificates taken at home (home edition).
In case a candidate has just taken the high school graduation exam in a foreign language and used a foreign language certificate to convert the admission score, the option with the higher score will be given priority.
Foreign language certificates are valid until August 22, 2025 (the time to notify successful candidates according to the regulations in the 2025 Enrollment Plan of the Ministry of Education and Training).

Regional priority points and subject priority points are determined according to the Admission Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Priority points (P): Is the sum of regional priority points and subject priority points, depending on the results achieved, the priority points are determined as follows:
- Candidates with exam results plus bonus points below 22.5 points:
Priority = Regional priority points + Subject priority points.
- Candidates with exam results plus bonus points of 22.5 points or higher:
PASS = [(30 - Total exam score - Encouragement score)/7.5] x (Regional priority score + Subject priority score)
In which, "Total exam score" is the total score of 3 subjects in the admission combination according to the high school graduation exam results or the results of the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University after conversion.
Convert the scores of the Hanoi National University's capacity assessment test and the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment test to a 30-point scale.
Compare the converted score of the competency assessment test with the scores from the combinations according to the results in the High School Graduation Exam, the higher result will be considered for admission.
- Total admission score = Total exam score + Encouragement score + Priority score.
Candidates can only register for admission at the school where they submitted their preliminary application. Candidates must have 2 types of documents: 1 preliminary application and 1 application for direct admission or priority admission.
And special regulations
The Military Science Academy's direct admission quota and priority admission quota are no more than 50% for each male or female candidate in the language and international relations training majors; no more than 50% for the Northern region or Southern region of the Technical Reconnaissance major.
The Military Technical Academy and the Logistics Academy recruit no more than 50% of the female candidates for the Northern region or the Southern region.
Military Medical Academy, the Medical faculty recruits no more than 50% of female candidates for the Northern or Southern regions; the Pharmaceutical faculty recruits no more than 50% of female candidates, regardless of region but not exceeding the quota of each region.
In case there are still quotas for direct admission or priority admission but no more candidates register for admission, these quotas will be accumulated for the remaining methods.
Schools assigned an enrollment quota of more than 100 students will be considered for direct admission of no more than 3% of the quota; schools assigned an enrollment quota of 100 students or less will be considered for direct admission of no more than 5% of the quota.
