Harvesting more than 800 hectares of sugarcane

Việt NamViệt Nam16/08/2024

(HG) - Through a recent review by the provincial agricultural sector, sugarcane farmers in Phung Hiep district and Nga Bay city have harvested more than 800 hectares out of a total of 3,217 hectares that have been planted, with an estimated total output of more than 80,600 tons. The sugarcane areas harvested by farmers are mainly for sale in dozens of canes for use as soft drinks, with prices ranging from 1,200-1,500 VND/kg (depending on the time and quality of the sugarcane). According to farmers' calculations, with a yield of about 100-110 tons of sugarcane/ha, plus the above selling price, after deducting costs, sugarcane growers earn a profit of about 30-40 million VND/ha.

Hau Giang farmers have harvested more than 800 hectares of sugarcane to make soft drinks.

Some sugarcane varieties commonly grown by farmers are ROC 16, K88-92, KK3... Sugarcane fields that have not been harvested are in the bush jumping stage and are growing well. The pest situation is not much when the whole province recorded about 21 hectares of sugarcane lightly infected with some pests such as: stem borers, mealybugs, rats...
