The Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) has just issued a decision to recall the entire batch of Padobaby oral powder medicine due to violations determined at level 3 - a serious level according to current regulations.

Padobaby is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever in people with flu or associated allergic symptoms in children and adults.

The decision was made based on the test results of the Central Institute for Drug Control and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Drug Control for Padobaby batch number 110224, manufactured on February 21, 2024, with an expiry date of February 20, 2027.

This is a product of Medipharco Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, containing the active ingredients chlorpheniramine maleate and paracetamol, sampled at Phuc Tuan Pharmaceutical Trading Company Limited in Hanoi .

According to two test reports, the batch of medicine did not meet the standards for Methylparaben content - a preservative used in many pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. This deviation directly affects the stability and safety of the product when used.

The Drug Administration Department requires Medipharco to stop trading, quarantine all remaining drugs and report the distribution situation within 7 days. The company must send a recall notice to all wholesalers, retailers, pharmacy systems and medical facilities that have received the products.

The recall must be completed within 30 days, and Medipharco is responsible for handling the drug, paying the recall costs and compensating for damages according to regulations. The company must report the recall results to the Drug Administration, Hanoi Department of Health and Hue Department of Health within 3 days of completion.

Wholesalers, retailers and medical facilities must stop selling, distributing and using the recalled batch of drugs and return the products to the supplier. People are also advised to check and stop using the drug and the batch number if they are using it.

The Department of Health of Thua Thien - Hue province will monitor the recall process and assess the risk of circulation on the market. The Department of Health of other localities is responsible for widely announcing, publishing information on the website and handling violators if they do not comply.

The revocation decision takes effect from the date of signing. The Director of Medipharco and the Departments of Health must be responsible for implementing it in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
