Prime Minister: Doctors need to save people first, complete procedures later

VnExpressVnExpress09/02/2024

Government leaders asked doctors to take advantage of the golden hour to treat patients, prioritizing saving accident victims first, then patients can complete procedures later.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the above request when talking to doctors at the clinic about the emergency situation of accident cases during Tet, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, on the afternoon of February 8 (29th day of Tet).

Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's teaching that "a doctor is like a loving mother", the Prime Minister asked doctors and medical staff to "take care of patients like relatives, feel the pain of patients as if it were their own pain". "As long as there are patients in the hospital, doctors and medical staff cannot rest", Mr. Chinh reminded.

During Tet, the hospital prioritizes receiving and actively treating patients; being on duty and admitting patients with the highest responsibility, receiving them as quickly and promptly as possible; being ready to be on duty and handle any incidents that may occur; preparing adequate equipment and facilities; meeting drug requirements... The hospital also needs to support lower-level professionals, especially remote medical examination and treatment through the Telemedicine system.

Hospital Director Duong Duc Hung said that enough human resources, machinery, equipment, and medical supplies have been arranged to care for and treat 450 patients, including 100 seriously ill patients who cannot be discharged. The hospital also arranged shifts to be ready to receive and handle emergency cases.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Prime Minister visited the National Children's Hospital, sympathizing with patients, their families and doctors who had to stay in the hospital and could not return home for Tet. He hoped that doctors and nurses would conduct scientific research and participate in training human resources and expertise for the whole country related to pediatric examination and treatment. "This is both an obligation, responsibility, love and sharing with the children's families, contributing to improving the physical strength of Vietnamese people," said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that children are the future of the country, so he hoped that doctors and nurses would make efforts to take care of the children's medical examinations, nutrition, and mental health during treatment. He also requested that the hospital soon complete the construction of the second facility in Quoc Oai, Hanoi.
