
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh gave instructions at an urgent meeting on overcoming flood consequences in Thai Nguyen on the afternoon of October 8.
On the afternoon of October 8, right after inspecting the scene, visiting and encouraging people and rescue forces in Thai Nguyen province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an important meeting on response and overcoming the consequences of floods and natural disasters in the area, proposing both short-term and long-term solutions.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Party and State leaders and General Secretary To Lam , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The Prime Minister shared the pain, loss and difficulties that the Party Committee, government and people in the disaster-stricken areas are having to endure.
The Prime Minister acknowledged and commended the high sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors, and forces, especially the army and police, who have not feared difficulties and dangers to support people in times of trouble.
Faced with the urgent situation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed 9 key tasks that need to be focused on immediately, with the requirement to put people's safety and lives first and foremost:
- Organize a thoughtful funeral: Take care of the funeral for those who have unfortunately passed away, showing deep concern and sharing.
- Focus on searching for missing people: Mobilize maximum forces and means to urgently search for those who are still missing with the highest hope and effort.
- Care for the injured: Ensure timely and best medical care and treatment for the injured.
- Support people to stabilize their lives: Quickly access isolated areas, ensure adequate supply of food, drinking water and essential necessities. The Prime Minister emphasized: "Absolutely do not let any people go hungry or lack clothes."
- Temporary accommodation: Arrange safe and stable accommodation for households whose houses have collapsed or are severely damaged.
- Restoring medical facilities: Prioritize repairing and re-operating clinics and medical facilities to ensure health care for the people.
- School restoration: Quickly clean and repair classrooms so that students can return to school safely soon.
- Restoring the operation of agencies: Ensuring that public agencies can operate normally again to handle work for people and businesses.
- Maintain on-call duty at the highest level: Require functional forces to continue to maintain 24/7 on-call status, ready to respond to arising situations.

In addition to temporary solutions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out fundamental and long-term solutions to ensure people's safety and stabilize the province's socio-economic development.
The Prime Minister pointed out the need to invest in building, upgrading and completing the dike system and flood prevention on both banks of the Cau River, especially the section passing through the center of Thai Nguyen province.
The Prime Minister has directly assigned the task to Thai Nguyen province to build a road and dyke investment project on both sides of the Cau River. Specifically, the project will be about 17 km long on each side.
Emphasizing the urgency of the project, the Prime Minister requested that the project be implemented as quickly as possible under the state of emergency and set a target of completing it in June 2026.
The inspection trip and strong instructions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh not only demonstrate the Government's deep concern for the lives of people in flood-affected areas but also provide strategic, long-term decisions, aiming at the goal of sustainable and safe development for Thai Nguyen province.
