Prime Minister highly appreciates "strategic products" of defense industry

(NLDO)- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the development of specific and special policies so that the defense industry can continue to develop in a breakthrough manner.

On March 15, at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working session with the Ministry of National Defense and relevant ministries and branches on the results of research and production of high-tech defense industry in 2024, and oriented key tasks in 2025.

The contents of the working session were to concretize Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation. Also attending were General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense; leaders of ministries, branches, and central agencies.

At the meeting, reports and opinions assessed that in the past time, the agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense, led by the General Department of Defense Industry and the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel), have achieved many breakthrough results in implementing key tasks in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and defense assigned by the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense. Those results directly aim to enhance the country's defense potential.

Some specific results are that our army has mastered system design, system integration and core technologies of high-tech defense products. At the same time, successfully produced and delivered a number of strategic products equipped in the army and effectively served the country's socio-economic development.

After listening to the comments, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the breakthrough developments of the defense industry in recent times. According to the Prime Minister, defense industry products researched and developed by our army, especially strategic products, have been and will contribute to creating the foundation for building a proactive, self-reliant, self-reliant, dual-purpose, and modern defense industry in Vietnam.

These results also show that promoting internal strength is a decisive factor; closely linking and becoming the spearhead of national industry. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of National Defense to continue promoting the achieved results, better performing the assigned tasks; especially taking the lead in effectively implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo, accelerating the development of the semiconductor chip industry.

The Head of Government also directed to promote the combined strength to develop the modern defense industry, becoming the spearhead of the national industry, effectively serving the goals and tasks of protecting and building the country in the new era, developing prosperously, for social progress and happiness of the people.

Based on the assessment of the results and experiences of 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries and branches to continue to coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense to advise the Party and State on policies and strategies for developing the defense industry to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

In particular, focusing on closely combining basic scientific research with application, training human resources, expanding and improving infrastructure. At the same time, researching, consulting, building specific, special, breakthrough policy mechanisms to promote the speed and quality of tasks, meeting the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
