The Government Office has just issued Document No. 9859/VPCP-KGVX dated October 13, 2025, conveying the opinion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (in document 8764/BNV-CVL dated October 1, 2025) on the plan for Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.

The Minister of Home Affairs shall notify administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises and employees as prescribed.

Agencies and units must arrange and organize on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to continuously handle work, ensuring service to the people.

Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production, business, economic and social activities, ensure supply and demand of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, contribute to promoting economic growth, practice thrift, and combat waste before, during and after the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.

Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued Document No. 8764/BNV-CVL dated October 1, 2025 to the Prime Minister proposing a plan for Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026.

According to the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants and public employees will have Lunar New Year holidays from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (December 27, year of the Snake) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (January 6, year of the Horse).

Thus, the Binh Ngo Tet holiday lasts 9 consecutive days including 5 Tet holidays according to the Labor Code and 4 weekend days.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also proposed that on the occasion of the National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have a day off on September 2, 2026 and the day immediately preceding September 1, 2026; swapping the working day from Monday (August 31, 2026) to the weekly day off on Saturday (August 22, 2026). Civil servants and public employees will have a day off on the National Day holiday in 2026 from Saturday, August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Thus, on the occasion of National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 5 days off (including 2 National Day holidays as prescribed, 2 weekly days off and 1 day exchanged with a weekly day off).
