On May 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with representatives of the US business community investing and doing business in Vietnam to listen to, resolve difficulties, and propose solutions to promote investment and business cooperation between Vietnam and the US.

Representatives of the US Embassy in Vietnam, the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi, and large enterprises such as Boeing, Molex, Excelerate Energy, Abbott, Coca-Cola, GE Vernova, etc. highly appreciated the goodwill of the Vietnamese Government in regularly holding meetings, working, listening, and removing bottlenecks to promote Vietnam-US trade and investment cooperation.

The US representative suggested that Vietnam continue to improve the investment and business environment; resolve some problems, create maximum convenience for production and business activities, especially in resolving administrative procedures, non-tariff barriers, issues related to taxes, fees and charges.

Along with that is ensuring infrastructure conditions such as electricity infrastructure, information technology infrastructure, logistics; strengthening management and supervision of enterprises to ensure transparency and origin of goods; Vietnamese partners urgently implementing the agreement signed by the two sides; resolving a number of issues in specific projects...

With the spirit of "clear people, clear work, clear time, clear results, clear responsibilities, clear authority", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam has been very proactive and positive in promoting balanced and sustainable economic and trade cooperation with the US.

The Prime Minister hopes that the US will continue to share with Vietnam - a country that has suffered many losses and pains from war, been besieged and embargoed, and has withstood shocks from the outside.

Vietnam is always ready for dialogue, striving for balanced and sustainable trade, and fighting against trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Accordingly, he suggested that businesses have a positive voice with the Trump administration about Vietnam's efforts and goodwill, and that the US has the best solution to promote balanced and sustainable trade cooperation with a tariff agreement that is beneficial both in the short and long term.

Sharing Vietnam's context ahead of negotiations

Sharing Vietnam's viewpoint on the trade negotiations between the US and China, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam hopes to avoid a trade war, especially between major economies such as the US and China; promote cooperative relations based on the law, and implement international commitments with beneficial agreements.

In the context of difficulties related to global trade tensions, Vietnam builds an independent, self-reliant economy associated with proactive, active, deep, substantial and effective international integration, relying on internal resources as fundamental, strategic, long-term and decisive; external resources as important and breakthrough.

Promoting the spirit of self-reliance and self-improvement, Vietnam considers this an opportunity to restructure the economy for rapid and sustainable development, restructure trade in a balanced and sustainable direction with all partners on the principle of mutual benefit, without affecting third countries; promote market diversification, product diversification, and supply chain diversification.

Implementing the "strategic quartet"

According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam is implementing the "strategic quartet" on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, national digital transformation, international integration in the new situation, law making and enforcement, and private economic development.

At the same time, he affirmed that the Government plays a creative role; people and businesses are the center; institutions are the driving force; infrastructure is the foundation for "listening and understanding together; sharing vision and action together; working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together".

The Vietnamese Government creates all favorable conditions and protects the legal and legitimate rights and interests of businesses, including US businesses, so that businesses can cooperate, invest, and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.

Informing that Vietnam has implemented and continued to reform visa policies for foreign citizens entering Vietnam, including US citizens, the Prime Minister hopes that the US Government will consider and have a favorable visa policy for Vietnamese citizens.
