Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Chairman of the Algerian National Council

At the meeting, President of the Algerian Senate Azzouz Nasri warmly welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to an official visit to Algeria; affirming that the visit is an important event, contributing to creating a breakthrough, bringing bilateral relations to new heights in all aspects.

Emphasizing that the historical relationship between Vietnam and Algeria has been built, formed and developed very well through many historical periods, Senate President Azzouz Nasri welcomed the two countries' upgrading of their relationship to a Strategic Partnership and emphasized that Vietnam is always a priority partner of Algeria and the Senate always supports the Algerian Government in developing relations with Vietnam.

The President of the Algerian Senate praised the historical significance of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, which inspired national liberation movements around the world; thanked Vietnam for its great support for the Algerian Revolution and Algeria for its wholehearted support for Vietnam until Vietnam liberated the South and reunified the country in 1975.

The President of the Algerian Senate expressed his pride in the deep and strong relationship between the two peoples and said that the upgrade of the relationship to a strategic partnership will open a new chapter in bilateral relations. The President of the Algerian Senate stressed that the two countries have a glorious past and will certainly have a bright future.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked the President of the Senate Azzouz Nasri and senior leaders of Algeria for the warm welcome given to the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam and was moved when the President of the Senate and all Vice Presidents of the Senate took the time to warmly and sincerely welcome them.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the regards of Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Senate President Azzouz Nasri and senior Algerian leaders.

Affirming that the loyal friendship, solidarity and mutual support between Vietnam and Algeria, which have been nurtured over time, are the sustainable foundation of the bilateral relationship, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always remembers Algeria's support and assistance for the past struggle for national liberation and in Vietnam's current national construction and development, bringing the two countries together towards the future with new confidence and expectations.

The two sides affirmed the importance of cooperation between the two Parliaments in the overall bilateral relationship and agreed to promote effective cooperation between the two National Assemblies through sharing legislative, supervisory and law-making experiences; establishing in-depth cooperation programs between the two sides' specialized committees and more closely connecting the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Pleased to announce the newly established Strategic Partnership framework and the excellent results achieved during the talks between the two Prime Ministers, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested soon having a specific action program between the two sides' law enforcement agencies, and reviewing cooperation documents in accordance with the new context and situation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also announced that the two sides signed seven cooperation agreements during the visit on trade, housing, urban planning, education, business connections, etc. and asked the Algerian Senate to support and continue to create a solid legal corridor for bilateral cooperation, and to sign and ratify important foundational agreements.

The President of the Algerian Senate highly appreciated the results achieved during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit and affirmed that these are the foundations for building a bright future for the relationship between the two countries as well as the development of each country in the coming time.

On this occasion, the two leaders also affirmed their strong commitment to promoting cultural, sports and artistic exchanges that honor the history and traditions of the two nations, thereby helping the people of the two countries better understand the brotherly and loyal relationship as well as enhancing understanding between the two nations.

The President of the Algerian Senate highly appreciated and affirmed that he will continue to pay attention to and actively support the Vietnamese community in Algeria to stabilize their lives, make positive contributions to Algeria's socio-economic development and be a bridge for friendship between the two peoples.

On the multilateral level, the two sides agreed to continue to coordinate and support each other's positions in international and regional parliamentary unions and multilateral forums of which Vietnam and Algeria are members. Regarding maritime and ocean issues, including the East Sea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Algeria to support ASEAN's common stance in peacefully resolving disputes and respecting the interests of coastal countries in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Senate Chairman Azzouz Nasri to soon visit Vietnam.
