Thua Thien - Hue: 127 teachers quit, difficult to recruit more for the new school year

On the afternoon of August 31, the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province held a regular press conference in August to provide information on the socio -economic situation in the first 8 months of the year and some key tasks for the last months of 2023. In particular, information emerged that 127 teachers had quit their jobs before the new school year.

Discussing the preparation for the new school year 2023 - 2024, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province, cited the report of the Department of Education and Training at the regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee, saying that in 2023, the Department of Education and Training reported that 127 teachers quit their jobs.

Most of the teachers who quit their jobs are in preschool and primary schools. The reasons for quitting their jobs are due to work pressure and policies, and income that does not meet living standards. Some other teachers quit their jobs due to personal wishes, such as getting married far away, reuniting with relatives abroad, etc.

Currently, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province is actively encouraging teachers throughout the province to overcome difficulties and strive to complete their tasks for the new school year. In addition, the Department of Education and Training also proposed that the province have a policy to improve policies to increase teachers' income.

Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang also added that in addition to studying policies for teachers, in recent times, to supplement the shortage of teachers, the education sector and localities have organized recruitment. However, recruiting preschool and primary school teachers has encountered many difficulties due to the lack of applicants.

At a press conference reporting on the socio-economic situation in the first 8 months of the year, the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province said that the tourism industry continued to recover strongly, with the number of tourists increasing sharply. In the first 8 months of the year, it is estimated that there were 2.1 million visitors, 1.6 times higher than the same period; international visitors are estimated at 672,000, 9 times higher than the same period. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 4,600 billion VND, 1.6 times higher than the same period in 2022.

The export turnover of goods in August is estimated at 85.7 million USD, up 2.6% compared to the previous month. The average consumer price index (CPI) in 8 months increased by 1.74% compared to the same period. The total social investment capital is estimated at 18,637 billion VND,

Since the beginning of the year, 12 new projects have been granted with a total newly granted investment capital of VND 1,795 billion (including 6 FDI projects, registered capital equivalent to VND 963.8 billion). There are 10 projects that have been granted investment decisions and are selecting investors, with a total investment calling capital of VND 1,888 billion.
