Thua Thien - Hue studies putting GSM electric taxis into operation

On the afternoon of April 24, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong had a working session with Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) on the proposal to register for pure electric taxi operations in the province.

Reporting at the meeting, GSM General Director Nguyen Van Thanh said that GSM Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (“GSM” – Green – Smart – Mobility) is the first pure electric taxi business unit in Vietnam, with the SM Green Taxi brand using electric car models VF5, Vfe34 (Taxi GreenCar) and VF8 (LuxuryCar).

The company officially opened its doors in Hanoi on April 14. Electric taxis are being supported and loved by many people.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Chairman of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial People's Committee agreed to study and put electric taxis into operation in the locality.

Through research, GSM Company realized that Thua Thien - Hue province is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Vietnam and attracts a large number of international tourists every year. International visitors are customers who really like to use green and environmentally friendly means of transport. Therefore, GSM Company wants to register to operate pure electric taxis locally.

“ In the near future, the company will begin recruiting and organizing formal training in English and services for drivers to bring the best experience and service to customers when using the company’s services. It is expected that in phase 1, 250 pure electric taxis will be put into operation ,” added GSM General Director Nguyen Van Thanh.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong welcomed and highly appreciated GSM Company's research and desire to invest in Thua Thien Hue province.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province assigned departments, branches and sectors to coordinate with GSM Company to conduct surveys and assessments to propose suitable plans according to the scale and content proposed by the company. At the same time, support and create the most favorable conditions for research and have appropriate orientations for the company to invest in the coming time.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province emphasized that electric taxis are one of the advanced solutions that bring great benefits to the community, contributing to reducing air pollution; in line with the orientation of building and developing Thua Thien Hue on the basis of heritage, ecology, landscape, and environmental friendliness. At the same time, the implementation of electric taxi services affirms the province's determination to promote the development of green and sustainable transportation.
