Promoting exchange and cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese people through television products

Television holds a special position in spreading accurate information, promoting the connection between the people of the two countries; introducing the unique cultural values ​​of each nation in the spirit of respect and cooperation.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025); in response to the "Year of Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange," Vietnam Television (VTV) in collaboration with China Central Radio and Television (CMG) held the VTV-CMG media cooperation announcement ceremony and introduced key media projects for the 2025-2026 period.

Congratulating the cooperation between VTV and CMG, in a letter sent to the event, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: "Over the past 75 years, under the leadership and direction of the Party and Government of the two countries, the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China have been continuously consolidated and developed, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries. The Party and Government of Vietnam always attach importance to and clearly identify that developing relations with China is an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, autonomy, peace , friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.

Television holds a special position in disseminating accurate information, promoting the connection between the people of the two countries, and introducing the unique cultural values ​​of each nation in the spirit of respect and cooperation. Vietnam Television and China Central Radio and Television, the main media agencies of the two Parties and the two States, have performed this role very well. I highly appreciate the close cooperation between the two stations in recent times, through joint projects in producing television content, documentaries and cultural and artistic exchange programs between the two countries. These projects not only bring value in terms of communication but also contribute to strengthening the foundation of friendly relations between the people of the two countries.

The cultural similarities between the Vietnamese and Chinese peoples are an important factor in promoting cooperation and deepening the relationship between the two peoples. The role and responsibility of the two national television stations are extremely important in conveying the spirit of solidarity to the people. On the occasion of the Vietnam-China Cultural Exchange Year 2025, I hope that the two stations will proactively cooperate, continue to maintain their position as the official information channels of the country, promote the friendly neighborly relationship, comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, in line with the aspirations of the people of the two countries."

For many years, VTV-CMG Media Cooperation has always been identified as an effective channel of exchange, contributing to consolidating and deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries. Notable projects include the cooperation in producing and broadcasting documentaries: "Vietnam Today - China Today" (2015); "The Charm of Vietnam - The Charm of China" (2017); cooperation in training, sharing experts, participating in television seminars within the framework of the National Television Festival organized by VTV; signing strategic cooperation agreements during visits by senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries; supporting content exchange and sharing of television resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The specific cooperation projects between VTV-CMG on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year are among the activities of important political , diplomatic and media significance, contributing to concretizing the common perception between the senior leaders of the two parties and two countries, while promoting exchange, cooperation and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries through diverse and modern television products and cultural and artistic content.

In the spirit of long-term and effective cooperation, VTV-CMG agreed to deploy a series of outstanding communication activities in 2025-2026, notably the joint production of a series of programs on technology development, Artificial Intelligence, urban infrastructure and programs that comprehensively reflect the political, cultural and social milestones of the two countries. Important events such as visits by high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, important conferences, strategic cooperation and people-to-people exchange activities will be given priority to be reflected promptly and deeply.

Through this, audiences of both countries have a realistic and vivid perspective on the process of friendly cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and China. The programs are broadcast on national television channels and digital platforms, ensuring wide transmission to the masses of the two countries.

VTV-CMG agreed to strongly promote the exchange of television content, aiming to introduce works that reflect the depth of culture, national identity and outstanding development achievements of each country. Documentaries, television series, and special reports on history, places, people and innovation will be prioritized in the exchange plan. These activities help people of the two countries understand each other better, thereby arousing empathy, respect and strengthening solidarity between the two long-standing cultures in the Asian region.

A highlight in the series of cooperation activities is the art exchange program between Vietnamese and Chinese artists. The event will gather many prestigious names, representing the traditional and contemporary art fields of each country. In the context of television strongly shifting to the digital environment, VTV and CMG will seek cooperation opportunities in the field of new media, including content production and distribution on digital platforms. In addition, sharing experiences in operating digital ecosystems and digital content strategies will be emphasized.

To deepen the understanding of each country's culture, especially for the younger generation, VTV-CMG will co-produce the program "Young Reporter Exchange." This is an opportunity for the younger generation of reporters to raise awareness, build traditional friendships, foster friendships, learn from each other and work towards a sustainable future.

Through strategic cooperation programs, VTV-CMG hopes to continue to spread, enhance understanding, connect people, develop sustainably, and make practical contributions to strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China./.
