Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Thanh Kien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam - US Friendship Association said: After Vietnam gained independence, the Vietnam - US Friendship Association was established and is the first bilateral people's friendship organization of the Vietnamese State established under the Directive of President Ho Chi Minh, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity between the people of the two countries.
Mr. Pham Thanh Kien emphasized that currently, bilateral cooperation is increasingly deepening in many areas, from economics , education, defense, to innovation and sustainable development. Along with that are the continuous efforts in closing the past, returning war relics, handling bombs and mines and toxic substances left over from the war. These results come not only from the efforts of the two governments but also from the persistent companionship of people's organizations, businesses, and dedicated individuals.
