When he was born, Do Quang Hoa had an unfortunate body like everyone else, with a big head, small legs and a hunchback. He also went to school but due to his poor health, he had to drop out. Many times when he saw his healthy and normal peers, he also felt sad.
When he grew up, he wanted to live a useful life for his family and society. In 2000, the young disabled man asked his parents to let him learn electrical repair at an acquaintance's facility near his home. After 2 years of apprenticeship, thanks to his intelligence and diligence, he mastered the job and could repair fans and rice cookers himself.
In 2004, with the support of his family, Mr. Hoa opened an electrical repair shop right at home. He worked and learned and researched at the same time, thanks to which his skills gradually improved. Seeing that the young worker had a gentle personality, reputable business, and reasonable prices, the people in the hamlet often came to support him, and when their electrical appliances were damaged, they would bring them to Mr. Hoa for repair. Up to now, his work has become more and more favorable, saving some capital, ensuring a stable family life.
Understanding the pain, difficulties and hardships of people in the same situation, Mr. Hoa always wants to help people overcome adversity. In early 2024, when he learned about the situation of Mr. Nguyen Huu Duc (born in 1979), residing in An Loc hamlet, An Co commune, who unfortunately had a congenital heart disease and could not do heavy work but had to support his 70-year-old mother. The mother and son mainly lived on Mr. Duc's daily lottery ticket sales. Seeing that, Mr. Hoa suggested that Mr. Duc could come to the shop to learn a trade for free.
With the experience of a disabled person who has overcome difficulties, Mr. Hoa has supported Mr. Duc wholeheartedly. With support, Mr. Duc diligently learned the trade, asked questions about things he did not know, and thanks to his will, he has made progress day by day. After nearly a year of studying the trade, he has learned to fix common electrical appliances such as: rice cookers, fans, irons and is practicing winding motors.
Knowing that Duc's family was in a difficult situation and did not have the capital to open their own shop, Hoa advised him to come to the shop to help out in his free time or, when there were many items, he would contact Duc to come and help out and pay him according to the worker's salary. Just like that, after selling a few lottery tickets, Duc would come back to the shop to help Hoa repair electrical appliances.
Mr. Duc said: “The results of my work and Mr. Hoa’s may be very ordinary compared to others, but we feel very happy when we work with our own strength. There are still many challenges ahead, but I am very happy because I have found joy in my work and realized the value of life.”
Ms. Le Thi Nha Phuong - Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Vinh Hamlet commented that Mr. Hoa is a gentle person, always strictly following the Party's guidelines, the State's laws and policies and local regulations, so he is loved by everyone. Before teaching Mr. Duc a profession, Mr. Hoa also taught another disabled person a profession for free so that he could open a shop to support himself.
