From transferring projects to Vietnamese enterprises in the province, currently, lecturers of Lac Hong University have many technology transfer contracts with Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese enterprises located in Dong Nai and other provinces.

Brand Affirmation

According to statistics in 6 academic years (2018-2019 to 2023-2024), the science and technology transfer activities of Lac Hong University have made remarkable progress. If in the 2018-2019 academic year, the school only had 5 science and technology transfer contracts, by the 2023-2024 academic year, the school had 55 contracts (11 times more). In terms of the value of science and technology transfer contracts, in the 2018-2019 academic year, it only reached over 580 million VND; by the 2023-2024 academic year, this figure is over 4.8 billion VND (8 times more).

Dr. Pham Van Toan, Head of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics, is the lecturer holding the "champion" position in implementing science and technology transfer contracts of Lac Hong University. In the past 5 years, he has had 25 science and technology transfer contracts. The transfer contracts are mainly to improve machinery and design automated machines to replace manual processes according to business orders. Most recently, Dr. Pham Van Toan has a contract to transfer self-driving cars to Lixil Vietnam Global Manufacturing Company Limited (Long Thanh district).

Associate Professor, Dr. NGUYEN VU QUYNH, Vice President of Lac Hong University, shared: “Resolution 57 is considered a boost to help universities promote innovation and digital transformation, reshape development strategies towards high technology, adapting to global trends. We especially expect to remove institutional barriers, simplify administrative procedures and increase autonomy in research and technology transfer, creating more favorable conditions for science and technology activities to develop strongly and sustainably.”

This is the first product successfully commercialized from the results of scientific research activities. Initially, businesses were not very interested because self-driving cars are not a strange product and are popular in the world . However, when directly examining the product, Lixil Company decided to order this product.

From small orders for machinery improvement for Vietnamese small and medium enterprises in the province, up to now, the science and technology transfer activities carried out by Dr. Toan have expanded in terms of locations (Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City), business scale (Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese enterprises) and the list of customers is constantly growing.

Expectations of mechanisms to promote research activities

Lac Hong University has applied many practical policies to encourage science and technology transfer activities. All funds collected from the transfer contract are transferred directly to the authors, the school only retains the tax according to the regulations of the state agency. At the end of the year, authors with transfer results will be rewarded. In addition, lecturers participating in technology transfer are also exempted from the corresponding number of scientific research obligation periods.

The school also creates conditions for groups of authors to use products from research topics to participate in domestic and international science and technology competitions. If they win, the authors will continue to receive worthy rewards from the school to encourage the spirit of innovation and creativity and spread the effectiveness of science and technology transfer activities.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector of Lac Hong University, hopes that when Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation is implemented synchronously and strongly, science and technology transfer activities will become a key driving force to promote innovation, contributing to socio-economic development and enhancing the position of the university in the national science and technology ecosystem.

Lac Hong University expects the “3-house” cooperation model between the State - school - enterprise to develop rapidly. Currently, Lac Hong University has built a network of more than 1,000 partner enterprises, mainly supporting student internships, providing feedback on training programs, career counseling and awarding scholarships. However, research cooperation activities with enterprises are still modest. With Resolution 57, the university expects a clear increase in the quantity and quality of research cooperation according to the “3-house” model.
