The Serie A champions are keen to sign Grealish this summer as Antonio Conte looks to continue building a strong squad. However, according to The Telegraph , the deal faces major problems as Napoli consider pulling out of negotiations.
The Italian club cannot meet Grealish's £300,000-a-week wages, meaning Man City will have to pay a portion, possibly up to 50%, of the England international's wages to get the deal through.
Man City are said to be "optimistic" that they can sell Grealish in this transfer window, but a loan deal is a more realistic option. At 29, Grealish is desperate to play regularly in the 2025/26 season to convince manager Thomas Tuchel for the 2026 World Cup.
Tuchel has suggested Grealish needs more regular playing time after a disappointing season. Napoli are not the only club interested in Grealish, with Aston Villa, Newcastle, Milan and Everton also keeping a close eye on his situation.
Grealish no longer has a chance to continue his association with the Etihad Stadium team. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano informed: "Grealish is not in Pep Guardiola's long-term plans".
Despite playing a major role in Man City's historic treble win in the 2022/23 season, Grealish has gradually lost his place in the starting lineup. Last season, he suffered a decline in form and was often benched, culminating in his exclusion from the squad for the FA Cup final.
