Thac Ba Hydropower Plant closes all spillway gates

Thac Ba Hydropower Plant has just announced the closure of all spillway gates from 6:30 a.m. on October 7. Thac Ba Hydropower Company said that on the Chay River basin of Thac Ba Lake last night (October 6), there was only 40mm of rain, and the plants on the upstream branches only discharged at an average rate of 400-500 m3/s.

According to the forecast from the National Center for Hydrometeorology, the development of storm No. 11 in the next 2 days will be quite complicated. Therefore, the Company continues to monitor the flood situation in the Chay River basin and Thac Ba Lake to have timely response measures, ensuring the safe operation of Thac Ba Hydropower Plant as well as the downstream. Since early October, due to heavy rain and the impact of storm No. 11, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued an urgent dispatch requesting Thac Ba Hydropower Plant to open the floodgates to lower the water level before the storm makes landfall.
